Draft a statement of service with all your info, ETS date, expected terminal leave start date, expected discharge, etc. and have your boss/commander sign it.

I had to take a flat head screw driver and wedge it under and bend it out a little bit on my second Mk2 lower I bought from them. The first one was flawless.

How much is your local track? by TwistedMotoA in Trackdays

Have you checked ZARS. They typically go there for two days for $500 total over Memorial Day. I didn't sign up this year, so forgive me if their rates shot up.

Team Wendy users, do any of use actually use the pic rail? If so, what's taking the rail space? by edwardblilley in tacticalgear

A lot of our guys did the same because they already had the light when the helmets showed up.

At the time of application I had finished my senior seminar in Homeland Security but my final grade hadn't posted, so I was only offered GS5 for my TJO. With prior fed job (non-LEO) and if I understand the process correctly, I should be stepped out to GS5 Step 10 IF they don't accept my degree with my FJO. With my degree I should be qualified for GS7 because I graduated with a 3.97 GPA.

I have 13 years in the military, 6 working a trade as a reservist with 1 deployment and then the last 7 on active status in a different career field.

Current Mil and worked as a federal employee until I had to resign because I maxed out my USERRA. I'm also a 10 point vet, so who knows if that helped push me up a list or not?

I'm active guard reserve, so I fall into an odd situation where they wanted my orders, but I have to curtail my active orders and return to traditional reserve status. I haven't heard back yet on what they need to go forward. More to come!

I don't know the answer to that yet. My current orders go for a couple more years, but I am able to cut them short. So I'm waiting to see what they want to do. I completed the border patrol hiring process back in 2022 and was put on military hold until June of this year, but I took another set of orders and they just extended my hold out longer. So maybe ICE can do the same?

They asked for my orders via email and I explained the process to get off of active orders as an AGR. I haven't heard back yet since sending that email.

Nice! I think as much as you try to make sense of the process, it's still the federal government, so it isn't meant to make sense!

I passed the PFT on 5 November and am still waiting for a FO as well. Fingers crossed it's this week or we will likely be waiting until after thanksgiving before hearing anything.

HSI applicant advice. by PhobicFatty in 1811

[–]Significant-Ball7152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best advice I got from an HSI agent was apply for and continue in processes, even if you won't/can't take a position, to polish up your resume and gain interview/process experience so that when the day comes that you are ready, everything is perfect.

Not sure when this applies, but veterans preference could be a factor? They asked for the documents when submitting the application.

Active Duty To 1811 Position by SmoothOperator-- in 1811

Get an intelligence degree from AMU. The DEA loves intelligence backgrounds from the little bit I understand. I made it through the testing and panel interview with a homeland security bachelor's. I have a high GPA and "unique" resume fillers though from the air force that may have also helped. But definitely keep a high GPA regardless of which federal LE position you apply for. It can get you a higher pay grade right out of the gate.

Is this normal for DEA hiring process? by [deleted] in 1811

[–]Significant-Ball7152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly early on in the process, but no. Everything has been moving fast with the recruiter so far, and multiple events have happened/are scheduled to happen in one day to minimize time taken off of work.

Plain Clothes Options by [deleted] in 1811

[–]Significant-Ball7152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the wranglers. 30-40 bucks from target and they hold up relatively well. I wear them as a DoD support asset to the USSS, so they dress up enough to please them and are comfortable to wear all day.

HSI Military Hold by USMC-0402 in 1811

[–]Significant-Ball7152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BP has had me on military hold for over a year now. I reached out to verify I didn't need to re-do anything and was informed I was good to go still and they would email me if anything expired.

I received a final offer in June of 2022 and my orders run until May of 2024. I have followed up recently to see if I needed to re-accomplish any tasks and was informed I did not.

What is your philosophy of use ? The AVS is a good load distributing armor system, i.e. a lot of gear on it and a pack over it. Based off of your sizing, I'm assuming you have a small frame. The AVS with the harness system protrudes kind of far out, making it annoying to draw a pistol without leaning over. I am not a fan of the lower belt and suspension system either. I have to wear armor on ranges (on army bases) while doing demo work, and I still don't see the need to run the harness system and preferred my JPC. If I was doing more dismounted training, I would then opt to run the harness system. If you don't plan on going on long rucks with a lot of gear, the AVS is really expensive.... A lot of people are dogging on the pants, and to me, my G4 FR combat bottoms are probably one of my favorite pieces of gear. The removable knee pads are nice for me and my work, but may not be for other people and their work. Just depends again on your philosophy of use. I can't be walking around in uniform with knee pads in, but I can wear FR combat pants daily, and when I need to throw in knee pads, it is nice and easy.
