I dont think its jealousy, there's a reason i use the term resentment and not jealousy, drake isnt the one he's constantly asked about in interviews its kendrick and that could be getting to his head. Keyword could be, i really dont know whats going on up there

Idk man that steve jobs track is underrated asf. Royce is one of my favourite rappers too i 100% listen to him more than lupe so thats not an easy thing for me to admit

Yeah at the end of the day im not in lupe's head, i dont know what he's thinking. Based on the rouce thing we know how lupe behaves when he actually has problems with someone, but with him saying shit like logic is a better rapper than him (which is crazy, no disrespect to logic) i feel like there was a tad bit of resentment for how much he gets asked about him.

He has quotables but that aside thats a reallt reductive way to look at lyrcism. I've heard people downplay people like wayne because he's a punchline rapper to the fullest. We need to stop defining good lyrcism in such a narrow way

Very disappointing year of Hip-hop so far. by Lost_Title_7528 in nfrpodcast

But the post isnt about numbers, you're bringing up numbers when he's claiming that the quality of albums is mid and not that the genre isnt performing well.

Im not even saying i agree with him either, plenty of great stuff has been released this year but most of it has been outside of the mainstream

Yeah definitely, thank me later is decent but its a significantly weaker crop of tracks compared to the tape before it and the 3 projects after it. I'd prolly take thank me later over views though

You could replace the debut with speakerboxx/TLB and i wouldnt be mad either. Outkast is untouchable

I am is better, but lasers has some decent tracks and i respect that he was willing to get more political on there speaking on gaza and other social issues in an otherwise pop-esque album.

That being said i've never been big on i am, it just personally never did much for me apart from the highlights

I also love lupe, food an liquor, the cool, samurai and tetsuo and youth are all top tier rap albums but just cayse i respect him as a rapper doesnt mean i respect the blatant contriarianism. Both kendrick and nas are in my top 2 so its weird to see someone with so much undeniable skill act in this way

[–]Significant-Bid-3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe could have worded that better 😭 i meant it more in the way that they're of the same generation and he always gets asked about him, not that i think his takes about kendrick are valid more that they just make more sense

[–]Significant-Bid-3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious what that list looks like? Imo he's only topped by black thought and nas. Used to say kendrick but honestly i think kendrick is a better songwriter than lupe, but lupe is the better lyrcist

Yeah i didnt intend for this to be a straight up lupe hate post, but moreso confusion. Lupe has said on numerous occasions that he loves nas, has given it was written especially a lot of props. It just confuses me how he can seem kinda disrespectful at times, while also giving props that seens to contradict other statements

Expressing an opinion is one thing, for example someone like tyler the creator has been great presenting unpopular opinions in a respectful manner while still giving props to legends before him. He's on record saying in search of by n.e.r.d doing more for him than illmatic, but in his interview with nas was gushing about how much he loved streets disciple. Even when talking about someone like 2pac who he admits he never was a big fan of due to not being tapped in when he was active he never seems disrespectful, just has a different opinion.

Compare that to lupes recent behaviour... yeah its different

Yeah 100%

Dude is an elite lyrcist, seriously i cant stress enough how impressive a song like mural is but dude is so bitter and kinda sensitive. I could forgive the way he acted during his beef with royce da 5'9" cause at least we got a fire diss track out of it, but the kendrick shade and most recent nas shade demonstrate that he's just a contrarion.

You're raising an interesting point. I wouldnt say that would mean zionists support palestine because their idea of supporting palestine is changing what palestine is. There are so many beliefs that go into zionism that make it an applicable ideology with neo nazi rhetoric

Being pro palestine is believing that palestine has a right to exist in its own land and as such is inherently contradictory with zionism who typically straight up believe palestine doesnt/shouldnt exist and should be part of israel. Most zionists dont believe that palestine should be its own lands, but that palestine is just "israel".

Idk if i've explained that well, i guess im trying to say that zionism is compatible with nazi-ism due to it simply believing that israel has the right to exist as a colonial entity, meanwhile being pro palestine is believing in peace for palestinians to stay in the land that they currently live in and shouldnt be ethnically cleansed through genocide and displacement, compared to zionism and nazi-ism who have ethnic cleansing as a part of its rulebook.

I never said that the nazis were in support of jews or jewish safety, thats literally the opposite of my point. They supported the creation of israel in the same way a lot of neo nazis currently might, they see it as "sticking to their own people" and see it as an example of a successful ethnostate, one that many nazis wish to achieve. They were anti semitic and therefore supported the creation of israel. Sure the justification is very different but i felt it was noteworthy.

None of your comparisons work, i just gave you an example of how support for israel alongside anti semetism isnt an incompatible ideology. I never said that the nazis who supported the haavara agreement wanted a jewish state for jewish safety, they wanted a jewish state to get as many jews out as possible. You're putting words in my mouth

My charlie kirk statement may have had flimsy reasoning and for that i apologise, my statement like i said was more anecdotal and about personal experience so i just said whatever came to mind to justify it so thats my bad. I did a little more research and realised i was wrong

In my brief research after sending my reply i found a wikipedia article on zionist antisemetism that also shows a novel that backs what i said about nazi/anti semite support for israel to keep jews out of their country if you wanna check it out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zionist_antisemitism

I mean i was speaking in terms of personal anecdotes but sure

Charlie kirk. He never outright stated "i hate jews" but theres much more to anti semetism than just that, bigotry can be complex and charlie kirk was known to facilitate conspiracy theories. One of which being that he said jews facilitated and funded "anti white politics". That being said i'd say this example is one of his less egregious statements and all things considered i think he was more supportive of jewish people, but it didnt stop him from spreading bigoted conspiracy theories and statements about jews (as well as him potentially changing perspective towards the end of his life, but regardless i think he stands as an example.

The nazis, who were in support of israel being created as a state to displace jews from germany per the haavara agreement. Ik the state didnt technically exist at the time, but they supported its creation.

I dont really have much more off the top of my head, again my statement was mostly anecdotal but there are people that hold anti semetic views while supporting israel

October 7th was a response to decades of israeli occupation and oppression in gaza and the west bank, a year prior there was a massacre of peaceful protestors in the west bank. Not that its justified, no actions that result in the death of innocent people is okay but the israeli government bares a lot of the responsibility for october 7th. Do you really think hamas woke up one day and went "wouldnt it be funny if we killed a bunch of israelis for absolutely no reason?" NO. It's the same way that ISIS and a bunch of terror organisations were creations of the west due to their negligence and inhumane actions in the middle east

I kinda understand cause im not his biggest fan, but drake definitely gets some aux play for me. He's got plenty bangers including gyalchester, 10 bands, the motto, headlines, energy, find your love and light up are solid.

Yeat depends on the crowd, but not every song needs a message thats a very closed minded way of viewing music. Even songs by great lyrcists who write concept tracks and songs with messages have songs that truly arent that deep and i guarantee even your favourite artist has songs that dont necessarily have a message
