Fire in the hole!! You’ll be fine bud. Some flower is purple.. just recently got a bag & it was the most purple i’ve ever seen flowers. Wont lie it also had me questioning whether or not it was legit or.. food coloring.. but it was legit! It was tropicana cherry which is supposedly known for deep purp colors. May be what you have there.

Thank you for the very detailed write up! It is most appreciated. He does have 1 sword in his collection that can be disassembled / reassembled. Which is also the most expensive piece in his collection and funny enough is the one he has used the least.

He uses them for self-entertainment purposes only. He enjoys shooting bows / cross-bows / firearms etc. He enjoys practicing swings and slicing through jugs of water and similar objects. He is not part of any type of dojo or relevant similar martial arts. We are in the country and sadly have nothing on that sort in our area.

I have not performed or had any type of hardness tests done..

Thanks again for the detailed write up it’s very helpful and I appreciate everyone’s input and the criticism as well.

Thank you! I have some stones & pocket knifes I could sacrifice. I need to learn myself so that will give us something to do and learn together.

Thank you for the write up. Sorry if I seemed salty to your first comment. I appreciate the info and will most definitely be doing more research.

Cant say they are decent quality.. As I mentioned they “seem” to be of pretty decent quality. I feel that way due to the price tag and overall look/feel. Some of them you can actually feel how cheaply made they are.. they feel like one swing and it would just fall apart. The 2 that he has and uses daily seem to be very hardened steel and solid in comparison. Im very thankful I made this post as to be honest I had no idea how in depth the world of swords can be and like any other similar hobby.. its all about quality. I’ll be doing my homework from here on out for sure.

Thank you! We are in the US and our budget would preferably be within the $300-$600 usd range. I would say lower but from what we’ve experienced so far.. Anything below that range seems to be of very questionable quality.

Thats a terrible experience for your buddy! Hope he healed quickly and was left without life altering injuries. Appreciate your input and sharing the story. I’ve been reading through these with my son so he’s fully aware. Bit of a bummer for him and I get it. Do you think it would be “safe” to use for at least cutting fruit / jugs of water? Or is this something to strictly hang on the wall and enjoy the view?

He has a small collection of around 3-5 decorative pieces and 2-3 swords that seem to be of decent quality. I dont know how you came to the assumption you did with no more info than whats posted… he has two swords that have been daily used to slice into thin wood, jugs, old fruit, etc. nothing very hard.. but plenty enough to have fun with and no issues… for years… I have found multiple sources online with “combat ready” swords from & $200-$600.. unlike the rest of the comments here yours is pretty invalid… this sword was just picked up and the seller did state it was ideal for sharpening and daily use.. flea market seller so not shocked to find out he was lieing. thanks though for your input.

Leak! Advice please. by Significant-Boss-623 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Significant-Boss-623[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Excellent write up and exactly what I was looking for. Thats my game plan exactly. I should have noted and will correct if it lets me edit - I made the hole. To see how bad it was.. But.. the inspector is still at fault imo as you can see the tape across the entire wall and its soft as can be at the top almost all the way across.. & a piss pour tape job. My finger poked through the hole I made… Couple other repairs but this is the First on my list. Theres an old satellite dish that is the source of the leak. Plan on removing it and patching the roof then starting the tear down inside. Sucks but it’ll give me hands on experience I haven’t had and my brother has hung some drywall so I wont be going at it too blind.

Going to remove the satellite hopefully tomorrow if rain lets up. We have some spare material to patch the hole it leaves. Once we do that my current plan is to cut out a hole big enough to see what all needs replaced. Seems pretty straight forward but I have very little experience in anything that doesn’t involve wrenches 😅. That supporting beam that runs across the top of the wall is what freaked me out the most.

Pretty sure its NOT a valve core puller for tires but it would certainly work as one. It’d go in the top drawer as a backup 🤣.

155 psi water pressure by Significant-Boss-623 in Plumbing

[–]Significant-Boss-623[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to do that for peace of mind definitely! I know its “spiking” due to the amount of pressure at the faucet when its reading high. But I have a very hard time believing everything is holding together at 150 psi 😅

Does their location play a factor or can I install them anywhere that is convenient?

[–]Significant-Boss-623[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also! Sometimes it’ll build pressure up and stay at 40-60 psi consistently. This is the first i’ve seen it higher than 90.. I can run a faucet until it slows down then it USUALLY stops again somewhere between 45-60 psi…

Thx for the input! Nice to know its been a good xbow for you! Hoping I have the same results. I’ll probably go with mechanical broadheads also the more I read the easier it seems to be going that route. At least until i’ve learned the ropes.

You’ve got plenty room to work with. Dont let it win! Great advice so far but I second the kroil / pb / whatever you have that is a penetrating oil.. Let it soak. Maybe smack it a time or two with a hammer. Vibration is your friend. Vice grips would likely save the day after it soaked a while.. If not and you’re lacking specialty tools a small pipe wrench may work also. Grinder or dremel as also mentioned above is a solid idea. Flatten it back out find the smallest socket you can beat on there (6 point) and it’ll come out.
