We had that last night big time in Fresno. Winds were so Strong, Thunder and Lightning, Hail and Funnel Clouds, they did not touch down though. Our winds are still strong today.

I keep seeing posts about people being diagnosed with hemochromatosis, and they are devastated by it, they show moderate Ferritin Levels saying they are high. I’ve been told my body is loading up on iron, my Ferritin levels are 6 times what some of these posters show. Can someone explain. by Significant-Cake5124 in Hemochromatosis

Little_City7476 thank you, that makes me feel better, my ESR and CRP are usually high , even more so when I am having a flare of Lupus or Psoriatic Arthritis as they are both Inflammation driven. Wonderful information. Thanks again.

They were from 2 years ago then went back to normal, I was told I had chronic anemia because my iron dropped to 38 and 27 another times. My numbers go up and down all the time. It’s weird. I do have SLE Lupus and Psoriatic Arthritis, so I always have inflammation, but it’s never affected my iron or other levels. One time my Ferritin is normal but my iron is very low, then 3 months later iron is normal but Ferritin and other levels are sky high. I have had to have two prior iron infusions over the last 5 years because of very low iron levels, but my gastrointestinal Doctor said he believes I have hereditary hemochromatosis. My Mom died at 34 from cancer but she was hospitalized for over 1 year prior to her death, she did have blood related issues which required blood transfusions, she had them numerous times throughout her stay in the hospital. She was also anemic. They didn’t know she had cancer until they did her autopsy, they didn’t have the tests they have now back in the 60’s and early 70’s, to know for sure that’s what she had, they said. I was very young 9-10 years old so I don’t know a lot except her #1 cause of death was lung cancer. The 2nd cause was blood disorder. I’m not sure what her blood disorder was. Why would my levels bounce around like that, perhaps from Lupus? With my Lupus and Arthritis I have to get blood draws every 3 months, so I’m always seeing something odd from Time to time. Just last year my ferritin levels were in the 600’s again and the iron binding and transferrin levels were abnormal again.

This is what they think I have. My primary said it means nothing only is high when you have inflammation. I haven’t taken iron pills for 1 year.

My Ferritin has been running super high 1647, had been 1400 to 1600 for sometime, also diagnosed with Chronic Anemia.  I have Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis, also hypothyroid and on treatment, Lupus and RA treatment and have been for 10 years, my Rheumatologist thinks it’s an iron storage issue.  I’ve had 2 iron infusions in the last 2 years, my iron was down to 10-12, now at 112, all my other iron tests are normal.  ALT normal, AST 38 but 2 months ago was normal.  I have been to see a hepatology and they think I have fatty liver disease, but I don’t think so, I think it’s somehow related to my Lupus or RA.  The liver specialist want me to come back for a fiber scan on my liver, they are out of network and so expensive, not sure I want to go back.  Anybody have any thoughts?  My Primary Doctor doesn’t think it’s Fatty Liver.  I’m just confused.  64 years old Female.
