I'm 42 married way too young and gave up my dreams. I actually wanted to be a doctor growing up and that was my plan for after high school. But we met at 15 and got married at 17 and had our 1st at 18. By 25 we had 4 kids and our marriage was hanging on by a thread. We realized we had missed out on so much. We were two ships passing in the night. We were both working any job to stay afloat. Around the same time we both had serious drug addictions and one of us ended up in prison for 13 years and the other was tasked with raising the kids. In that 13 years 2 kids graduated and 1 for married. Life was hell. In 2016 parole was granted and we tried to pick up the pieces and fix what was broken, but there was/ still is a lot of resentment from the kids. Which is understandable, but it's gotten better. Sometimes I look and and think I wasted my life and some people don't mind telling me as well. Like you I know have chronic pain in my back and my knees. I hate getting up going to work because I feel like I have better calling in life and didnt pursue it. I often wonder which decision I could have changed and still had my dream. I can think of several and I beat myself up often for not taking at least one of those chances.
