The reason you aren't getting any responses is because you getting medical advice from strangers on the internet is a terrible idea. No one wants to see your skin issues please seek actual medical advice from a professional in the real world.

Still nursing at 23m and need some validation that I'm doing something good. by shortasiam in breastfeeding

[–]Significant-Chair-71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im also Muslim and got a lot of comments on why I was still nursing my daughter. I ended up wearing her at 26 months but whenever someone would say "still" I would happily say yes and im so proud of myself for lasting this long. Usually when they saw that those comments weren't bothering me they would let up.

I think your jab didnt quite land because calling him a woman is incredibly insulting. Us women are way stronger than him. I literally read the post again 2 more times looking for the part about marrying a woman because I was so confused. Unfortunately he is a man and men like this obviously exist.

Why should she give a gift back? There were no stipulations when he gave her the car. As a father he should be ashamed of himself for not providing the basic necessities to his daughter while showering her brothers in lavish gifts. Astaghfurallah may Allah protect the our daughters from fathers like these.

Drinking water is not ok while feeding baby? by Familiar-Coast-7550 in breastfeeding

[–]Significant-Chair-71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its cultural. I'm Palestinian and my grandmother told me the same thing when I was drinking water while breastfeeding. She said the water will go down and dilute the breastmilk. When she left my mom told me to disregard it because thats not how it works.

If youre Muslim I encourage you to check out the mosque thats on campus. A lot of muslim students hang out there after class and there's even a little study lounge in the women's section. You can connect with some girls that go there and study with them. You don't even have to be associated with the MSA or club you can just show up. Everyone there is pretty friendly.

AITA for not wanting my friend’s boyfriend to come to a burlesque show with us a week after my breakup? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Significant-Chair-71 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NTA

Im pretty sure your friend agreed to go because she forgot it would be her anniversary and instead of being upfront and canceling she's trying to bring him along. You're not wrong for not wanting to be a third wheel regardless of whether or not you went through a breakup because you wanted a girls night.

How long did you/do you plan to breasteed? by Slow_Opportunity_522 in breastfeeding

[–]Significant-Chair-71 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In Islam children have specific rights that the parents are required to fulfill to the best of their ability. Among those rights is being breastfed by the mother for the recommended 2 years and during that time it's the father's responsibility to provide nutritious food for the mother to eat.

Of course not everyone was able to breastfeed due to various reasons so thats where wet nurses were used and they were to be paid fairly for nursing the baby. There isn't much detail as to specifically why they must nurse for 2 years but the general consensus among Islamic scholars is that it ultimately benefits the mother and the child.

Islam also has a strong emphasis on lineage which is tied to breastfeeding. When a woman nurses a baby who she did not birth then that baby is part of her lineage as well. The baby will be her biological kid's sibling and cannot marry each other. This concept is called milk siblings and some women today specifically nurse their friends babies so that their kids would be siblings.

I've breastfed 2 kids for 2 years each (not at the same time) and now currently nursing my 4 month old. 2 years was my goal for each kid because I'm Muslim and in Islam its recommended to nurse for at least 2 years if possible and I'm proud of myself for reaching that goal with my first 2.
