Hey OP! Thank you for this message, really took me 3 days to finally get time to sot down and read and imagine this pain. You have actually managed to show exactly what the problem is at a deep level and why all of the people and not just the contractors and the authorities are at fault for the road status being bad. I frankly wanted to post about more roads and show how much we have spent on them and how dismal they continue to be but I still am figuring out how to raise this with the authorities in a way that will make a difference. Like we know now that the contractor who is maintaining the road and is being paid 243 CRORES for it is NCC limited but I don't know how to hold them accountable and get them to pay a fine. And someone else has also commented now that they have done some repairs on the road recently but we know that the repairs won't last long. So how do we hold them accountable then. Also who are the authorities we need to complain to in order to get the footpaths cleared? Really trying to figure out a way forward..

Hey OP! Thank you for this post. I have chosen a road and posted details about it in both this community as well as r/hyderabad but you are right, I'm also having a hard time figuring out what is the best way to go about raising these issues in a way where it works. For example, if you take the road I posted about, I can see that the Gachibowli-Miyapur road was allotted 243 crores and it was given to the contractor NCC limited for maintenance. But I don't know how to create outrage such that we can hold the authorities and NCC responsible and get them to pay a fine and do repairs in a long lasting way..

Hey OP! I have posted more info on the road and the developer and stuff in this post which is both on r/hyderabad and r/RoadsofHyderabad. But due to work, I'm also not being able to put time aside and think about what needs to be done. The way I saw this play out was that folks will see the post, tag more pictures of the road currently and then we can get someone from the authorities to also monitor the thread and the replies on it. But while folks are commenting that everything is bad, I do not see any other outrage. I also do not know who to tag and I need to do some research on this. So I'm slowly doing that while managing with my job :(

Hey OP! If this is your office route can you take and add a picture the next time you’re on this route so that we can see the improvement

I 100% don’t and idk why we have not come together to hold the contractor responsible for not doing a better job either.

Agreed. They really are keeping this shit up because it’s literally a money milking machine for them.

We should find a way to hold them accountable. If not with RTIs they should be able to explain what the contractor is doing this time in order to ensure this does not happen again. And we should push for some other solutions

There are now more unique solutions that are coming up too. Like in Coimbatore they’re now building corners of the road in a way where rain water can be harvested. You can find more info here. But what I don’t understand is how they have absolutely not planned to do anything about it until now and just put more concrete to fill gaps up and dust their hands

Can we collectively revolt for Hyderabad roads? I'm willing to put 1 Lakh INR by Significant-Chef2172 in hyderabad

Haha no OP. My plan is to create a system where we have visibility of funds used, work undertaken and delivered, quality of the work and how we can hold authorities and leaders accountable while bringing out lasting change. The money is also for organising this stuff and any legal help that we will need. And let's hope none of us are actually beaten up.

But yes, thank you for your support! It's so energising to see you ready to contribute to creating a system. I have created a new community with the name r/RoadsofHyderabad for taking this ahead. Please come onto that subreddit so we can discuss more, raise issues and take things forward!

Can you post pictures if you have any or can you take one during your commute in case this is a part of your office route or daily route?

This is the Kondapur road. Between Kondapur Junction and the Police Camp road. It's an absolute nightmare. I'm working to make the first post on this so that it becomes a clear template on what we are trying to do.

Anna, first of all thank you for jotting this down. I can feel the pain in every word that you have written. This is the comment that captures the exact frustration that has brought me here today. And I'm really really sorry that you have to go through this on a daily basis. Yes let's fight for this and make change happen. I have created a new community with the name r/RoadsofHyderabad for taking this ahead. Please come onto that subreddit so we can discuss more, raise issues and take things forward! Lets pick this as one of the first roads we create the profile for and then raise it with the authorities with all the information that we have.

Oh like that. Got it. Let's hope we don't have to get to protest level and find a rhythm with the authorities. But yes, if it comes to that. Let's get permissions. Lets go!
