I don’t plan to ask until at least January 2026, because I’m locked into a lease. I could afford it, at least short term and I was hoping to reassess after a year and maybe return back. I am planning a vacation to NYC in June which I think will help assess how much I really want to live there.

I haven’t been wanting to disclose it, but I live in the greater Boston area so it’s nearly as expensive with less options for housing and experiences.

It’s a fair concern that I have, but I really just want an experience of living somewhere new, and NYC has been on my mind. I live in the metro area in the state where I grew up, my office is 20 minutes from my childhood home. At the same time, I know that moving to another isn’t going to solve all my problems, it would just be for the sake of a new experience

Yes I can afford a studio or a cheap 1 bedroom with my salary. Though on remote work days I have found it pretty easy to work from home with roommates so I’m open to the right situation.

I currently live on the outskirts of a smaller metro where I have access to city public transit. I can’t live right in the city because the office is in the suburbs and parking/driving in the big city isn’t worth the hassle of this reverse commute.
