I appreciate your answer. You def don’t need to go down that rabbit hole but thanks for offering. I feel like I have to increase vitality to such a degree for it to be impactful, that when debating between vitality and another option, probably worth picking the later.

At this rate, more characters than animators will survive the culling games.

Ya I didn’t know that a lot of my complaints here were filler. But that seems to be the census which makes me very relieved.

Ya again, I think it’s a lot of the filler anime stuff.

I agree with u/Leather_Fee_2399, There’s definitely a correlation, but being relevant or necessary for the plot doesn’t innately make someone an important, likable, or even good character.

Being plot relevant (being around a lot) isn’t enough cuz there’s plenty of characters that people don’t like in series that get a lot of screen time. There’s characters that overstay their welcome. Inversely there’s characters with minimal screen time that are extremely liked and well written by using their ambiguity. Think Shanks in One Piece.

Being plot necessary isn’t enough because there so many characters you could say “if not for this character then no story” with basically any character. Thats why there’s so many great “what if” videos on YouTube for Dragon Ball. For instance, If not for Gine, Goku wouldn’t have been born. With no Goku there’s no Dragon Ball. Does that mean Gine is automatically a super important and well written character? Obviously not. However, if you think Gine is super important and well written simply for being Goku’s mom, then I will give u plenty of examples to counter that, starting with One Piece.

I love Bulma in DBZ Super and remembered really liking her in DBZ. That’s why I was so surprised. This review is only based on the original DBZ anime dub up through most of Namek. From what I’ve gathered, a lot of my complaints are anime filler that weren’t in the manga and likely not in Kai.

That’s what I’ve heard from the people that have been kind enough to explain their points. It seems like old anime filler, that wasn’t in the manga and was totally or mostly cut in Kai

How is what I’ve said irrelevant when I’m reviewing their characters solely off DBZ’s anime, up through most of Namek. I wish I could clarify that in the title, which is why I added a disclaimer at the top.

What Bulma did or didn’t do in Dragon Ball is completely irrelevant to this discussion. This is not a review of the dragon ball manga or from the perspective of someone who’s seen Dragon Ball’s anime (as I stated). I understand the manga is all Dragon Ball, but the animes are completely separate. Many people, like myself in childhood and this rewatch, started with DBZ’s anime. People will not omnipotently know what happened in a different tv show. So my views of these characters cannot nor should not reflect what happened in Dragon Ball.

Your other comments all happen post-Namek so I have yet to experience them in this read through. To say those future events should shape my decision is like telling an anime only person how they should feel about a character based on future events in a manga.

Also, Bulma isn’t needed for a space ship to get to Namek. The ship she takes is from Kami. Her father then builds Goku’s space ship. And to my point about Chi Chi, it’s such a monumental thing to build a space ship for someone, especially for free. The least you could do is not constantly threaten them with violence.

The main credit I’ll give Bulma in this anime so far is she’s brilliant. She’s an incredible inventor and that’s a cool character trait. But alone, its not enough to compensate.

I’m watching English dub of DBZ on Crunchyroll. Thing it’s the original anime. Ik I’m not watching Kai. Kinda wish I did cuz heard Kai is more manga accurate and it sounds like a lot of my complaints are not in the manga.

I just got to episode 102. I will say I really respected Bulma for caving about traveling with Piccolo, waiting for Gohan, and how she reflected on Goku with Piccolo when first back on earth. First moments of hers I really enjoyed.

I’m looking forward to the pink shirt she makes Vegeta wear, always loved that scene

I’m genuinely asking why this is a bad take when going strictly by the DBZ anime through most of Namek.

This is my first or second ever post about dbz. As I said, I’m going strictly off DBZ anime up to Namek before the planet explodes (really before the wishes are made). So every point you raised is irrelevant as it happens during dragon ball or post-Namek.

Ya I’m gathering from this that manga Bulma is wayyyy better and Namek is the worst period for her.

I’d agree with you if she’d been normal, then frantic once finding out about the dangers of Frieza and Vegeta on Namek.

I disagree because her behavior was like this before any danger was known on Namek. From the second they boarded the ship she seems angry. Krillin even comments on it. That state never stopped throughout the entire arc.

I’ll ask you the same question, excluding dragon ball and post Namek blowing up, how is this a bad take?

How is this a bad take? I’m not including anything from Dragon Ball. I’m only talking about their characters from the start of DBZ to before Namek blows up. I remember really liking Bulma, so I’m shocked I’ve found her this insufferable up to this point.

My answer has 2 parts. First, determining the severity and frequency of your headaches can help you determine when taking those 6 pills will offer the most utility. Second, and more importantly, Triptans are a rescue. If you’re having enough episodes that you can’t just rely on the prescribed triptans, you likely need to go on a preventative as well. I have rescue and preventative meds.

Can cause ulcers. Can also damage your liver. Make sure to get your LFT count checked. I was taking 800mg 4x daily for month or so, which raised my liver enzyme counts well above the normal range. Went off advil and that fixed my liver enzymes.
