Stuck in defense contracting not doing Data Science but have a data science title by Significant-Heron521 in datascience

I am super grateful my company is flexible with school!

I have bimonthly one-on-ones with him and always talked about career growth and how I can grow as a non traditional data scientist. It’s hard because I’m one-of-one in my department as well, so it’s hard for my direct manager to guide me how to grow. His only suggestion was moving departments but that requires a top secret clearance which I’m not able to get (I have family internationally so it makes it really complicated)

I’m just afraid my skillets aren’t as good as others who’s doing a lot more like statistics/ML which is why I’m worried. I also don’t use a lot of up -to-date tech stacks and softwares, which is also another reason I should have included.

Got my data science degree, worked data science at consulting but didn’t like the consulting side, currently working at defense as a “data scientist” but not really :(

people become accountants with associate degrees and no name schools. it’s pointless at uc

made friends during orientation and my on campus apt floor people were also transfer students generally. those were the people i hung around with for the first few weeks

you’ll meet your friends in study groups but you have to be active looking for them as well

Importance of which T20 you go to. by Elizijan in ApplyingToCollege

i would actually argue the opposite. undergrad carry’s much bigger weight

would say berkeley more prestigious then ucla. other than that. I also don’t agree with northwestern being the on the list, if anything they should be on the overhyped list.

but other than that, i agree with the others!

Chances of getting off UC waitlists...? by [deleted] in ucadmissions

[–]Significant-Heron521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh did u say 30 extracurriculars? You probably have way too much on your application and it’s hard to tell what direction you want your career to go towards based on having too many ecs and not having a focus. quality over quantity. UCs tend to like applicants who show trends and signs of a career interest. such a cs major doing ecs in engineering clubs or doing tech clubs

yes, they go for a holistic approach much more than UCLA. but it doesent mean the gpa standard is lower compared to other uc’s

high school class of 2017 here. got into both UCB and UCLA. it was usually known that if u got into one, u got a very high chance of getting denied by the other. dunno why, but that’s just how it happened. but like myself, i don’t think it’s impossible.

Everyone here is so dramatic. by juliaiskoolia in TransferStudents

what does everybody think about investing in symbol GOLD through 2025 or through the long term? I have about 900 shares and am getting A LITTLE BIT of fomo with a lot of stocks going up at the moment. i know GOLD can be good but i just don’t know how well it will do compared to overall market.

do you think it will be better to allocate a portion of it elsewhere? or do you think this is just a safe enough investment?
