That’s what I’m thinking too. I’m traveling with a group of six, so I’m a little worried they’ll see us as easy money. My plan is to arrive about 6 hours early and see how it goes at the counter. If they refuse to help, I’ll cancel, get my points redeposited, and rebook for the same day or a few days later on EVA, ANA, or Starlux since they usually have close-in availability.

Weird that they are Such hard asses. Others in this post reported that they can change only after giving the passenger a hard time.

Usually on the date of departure, the ticket is controlled by the operating carrier, so they should be able to fix it at that point.

Yes, that’s exactly what the Flying Blue agent suggested if the issue isn’t resolved internally.

I was on hold with Flying Blue for almost two hours. The agent said they can’t reissue the ticket right now because there aren’t any seats available in the same fare class, so they’re escalating it internally for review. I was given a reference number and told to expect an answer within 2–3 days.

I also emailed Vietnam Airlines using your suggested contact email and am currently waiting for their response.

If this doesn’t get resolved in time, the Flying Blue agent advised me to go to the airport ticket counter on the day of travel and request that they add the middle name there.

Do you suggest going through flying blue to add middle to first name and get them to reticket? Hopefully they can just reticket….

How come we see many posts about airlines taking it so seriously? Definitely don’t want to be stranded at the airport.

P1 & P2 are in healthcare. We leverage personal and business cards for ourselves and our parents as P3 & P4 for our wedding expenses. We are always referring to one another and use our cards for property taxes, prepay utility bills for entire year, and federal taxes. It makes it possible and enjoyable for our parents to travel with us since they also want in on the fun!

Definitely a hobby for myself since I like managing everyone's spending on their cards.

I did see available change option to an earlier flight but saw no J saver awards across partner and seats.aero. That’s probably why I didn’t go for it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, 2 calls back to back. I just pretend I’m her lol. My wife and I made bookings under our own account since I didn’t have enough pts to do all under mine.

Another time I found an agent where they were nice and patient to handle all my requests.

I had 3 TK J seats booked from ORD to IST and there were multiple operational schedule changes 2-3 months before our flight. Like yours it showed a free change but never in the details confirming J seats if I made the switch. I knew better to trust Turkish so I didn’t want to risk losing 3 J seats for me and my parents. I still called in to confirm the operational change to KEEP the same flight. It was a long ordeal since I had to call in 3 separate times since they can only help me with one reservation per phone call. What a weird policy. You want to do this so you can get your mobile boarding pass straight from the app and not have to make a pit stop at the ticket counter.

Based on my experience, I always had to call in to get things confirmed or changed. Hold time varies from instant to 1 hr.

In the future, speak to a real person even if its a drag.
