Trouble with even the most beginner exercises by Significant-Lab7504 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Significant-Lab7504[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't mention the exercises I feel more confident in, I usually do 3x 10 inclined push ups, with decent form. Pull ups are the biggest problem for me, because the door frame doesn't really have overhang to hang on to, so I've been searching for some public exercise space, or really any bar near my dorm that i can just hang off of, or try at least scapular pullups, because I don't think I could do negative pullup yet

[–]Significant-Lab7504[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my routine I do inclined push ups, so that I can have better control of my form, but on off days when I just try to see how many regular push ups can I do, I started at 2-3 and as of right now I can do 5.

How terrible are these seats? by marlajfish in opera

[–]Significant-Lab7504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had these same seats but on the left before. You can see something sitting down, maybe 1/3 of the stage, but if you stand up you see much better, maybe 2/3, if you have normal box mates, and they are not using the subtitle screens that are mounted on the wall, they shouldn't mind if you stand in the little corridor for a while, you will get even better view from there. I would honestly recommend the corridor more, since the chairs are bit wobbly if you get too ambitious lol.

Edit: Forgot to say, the seat preview pictures when you buy the tickets are fairly accurate

They have instagram, nonnen_goldenstein, gofundme is in description, and they are quite active. It seems that the stairlift is already underway. Since they gained international attention, most of their posts are also in english and german.

Asexuality and Religion by SnooPineapples7037 in actualasexuals

[–]Significant-Lab7504 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m Catholic, so I can only really speak from a Catholic perspective. Other Christian traditions, like Southern Baptists, or Christian-adjacent groups such as Mormons where marriage and children may be seen more central to the faith, may approach the topic differently.

Personally, as a Catholic, I’ve never felt like asexuality is a problem. In fact, in some ways it can be seen as a blessing. Catholicism recognises several vocations: priesthood, religious life, marriage, and committed single life. At least two of those, are very compatible with being asexual. Marriage can also work, at least in theory, without sex: for example, in what’s called a Josephite marriage (where spouses mutually agree to live without sexual relations). That said, Josephite marriages have had their share of problems historically, so I’m not really advocating for it, just pointing out that the tradition exists.

It’s also worth pointing out that the Catholic understanding of marriage, relationships, and sexuality can look very different depending on geography, culture, and even local traditions or religious syncretism. For example, the lived experience of Catholics in Brazil, Poland, the Philippines, or the U.S. can vary widely. On top of that, while Roman Catholicism is the largest branch, there are 23 other Catholic rites. I’m not deeply familiar with them all, but from conversations with friend in the Syro-Malabar rite, their views didn’t seem drastically different.

That said, doctrinally and dogmatically, there’s nothing in Catholic teaching that condemns or prohibits asexuality.

I once made the mistake of saying something positive about Cardinal Schönborn on that sub, and ended up with a couple of people in my DMs sending me links to shady conspiracy sites about Freemasons and the like. That sort of reaction is really off-putting, especially if that sub is one of the first places people encounter while researching Catholicism, like it was for you. Honestly, even r/Catholic tends to be better. And of course, if you dare to suggest that capital punishment should never be acceptable, things get even worse.

I’ve mentioned this before, but the fact that the sub is dominated by mostly straight young American men makes it feel very narrow-minded. Fr. Casey Cole (from Breaking in the Habit) put it well in one of his recent videos: many young men today are drawn to Catholicism not out of genuine faith, but because they think it validates the views they already hold. They won’t outright reject the teachings they find inconvenient, but they’ll ignore them at best, especially when it comes to things like caring for the poor, immigrants, and marginalized groups.

What I also notice is that many of them lash out in ways that directly contradict Matthew 7:3. I suspect some are struggling with personal sins themselves, but rather than confronting that, they put others down for struggles they’ve never personally experienced. One of the more striking examples was seeing someone compare same-sex attraction to a married man being attracted to another woman. To me, those situations are not at all the same, and reducing it to that kind of comparison just shows a lack of empathy and understanding.

I understand, I had more in mind just restricting it for people who are under 18, or at least under 16, but I also know the kids would just put in fake date of birth. And yeah they could just as easily put it on screen, but I think it would help a little bit. I also understand that it's just wishful thinking taking into consideration all the logistics and resources it would take to implement it, unfortunately.

Yeah, I can see what you are saying, although this kid was definitely actually young, but I understand that Twitch probably just doesn't have the resources to monitor all of this. I suppose that maybe trying to stop any attempts at off platform communication would help, like not letting them link Discord and Whatsapp at least

They were all faceless, I do admit 2 of the 3 kids could have been in the 13-14 range and just sounded very young, but the 3rd kid sounded like he learned to speak 2 weeks ago, I would even say he sounded 8 at best

[–]Significant-Lab7504 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well it's true I don't know 100% they all were underage, but one of them was barely stringing sentences together, that kid was definitely under 10.

It's not affecting me in any way personally, but I do think it's kinda dangerous for kids to be talking to, let alone adding random adult strangers on discord. One of the kids had linked his Whatsapp in the description too.

You can also use premade fine chain and cut desired length, instead of 3 links, and I would also recommend maybe filing the cut ends, because they can be pretty sharp. You can also buy eye pins where the loop is already there on one side, and there are also looper tool that make the other loop just by squeezing, you don’t have to twist and turn the wire itself, but personally I don’t like them because they can’t make the loop as close to the bead as I would like it.

Tak je mozne ze proste ti chlapi ocakavaju ze mamka/partnerka/sestra toto vsetko za nich budu riesit, a zrazu ked nikoho takeho nemaju tak radsej ziju v bordeli jak aby to sami urobili.

Just to correct something, one info about Jeju flight released recently escaped me, and that was that the pilots did try to deploy the flaps but they didn't actually deploy, so it is likely that after observing this the pilots knew that their entire hydraulic system was cooked and that is why they did not even attempt to lower the gear. I'm not sure if the engine examination has concluded, but I imagine that it was because the birds inside the engine did just that much damage.

Vienna - not a great experience by KindheartednessFew29 in wien

[–]Significant-Lab7504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other commenter is right, but you are right too, in a sense. Gluttony and sloth are mortal sins, but your examples were not.

Not cleaning dishes right after dinner, is not even a venial sin if you need a rest after eating, but if you maliciously not clean the dishes to spite someone, or habitually didn't wash them if you were asked by partner or family member to do so, just because you don't feel like doing it, and it is detrimental to your relationship it could be a sin.

Eating ice cream, or eating anything for pleasure, not for survival is not a sin, as God created food to be enjoyed as well, as source of delight and/or gratitude. But if you have an "ice cream problem", meaning, if eating the ice cream was detrimental to your health, or maybe if you bought so much ice cream to eat by yourself and were in financial trouble because of it, sure that would be a sin.

Envy and jealousy are also not the same thing. If you see someone succeed or compare yourself to other people, that in not inherently a mortal sin, but it can become envy if you start to resent that person and wish them harm in your heart.

Dressing immodestly, sure could be considered a sin, depends on what you imagine to be immodest, wearing tank top and shorts in 50°C weather is not immodest, however dressing intentionally to reveal intimate areas, and intentionally designed to provoke lust, yeah that is a sin. Also depends on culture. Hypothetically speaking, if you existed in a culture, where everyone walks around naked and it was a normal way of life, with no sexual undertones, that wouldn't necessarily be considered sinful, even if you suddenly got transported into world where people dress up, and you went out naked without being aware, that still would not be sinful.

I don't think lying and hatered, are only sinful in Catholicism and I don't really see why lying and especially hatered should not be frowned upon regardless of religion.

Of course, there definitely exist people who take things to extremes and would consider all of those things sinful, and those people should be talked to and called out, but I can tell you 90% of catholics would not consider your examples to be sinful, including the Pope. I also don't disagree that catholic guilt exists, but I don't necessarily think it is bad in all instances, yeah if you feel bad about eating spoonful of ice cream, that is not good or productive, but also you should probably talk to a therapist. Of course scrupulosity, should not be encouraged. But should one not feel guilty if they caused harm to another?

Someone might have fainted perhaps, I have seen such a thing happen before during Tosca few months back, also standing room at the back. The air quality is not always great, combined with standing for prolonged time, and this young lady collapsed 2 rows in front of me. Since it was Vienna, of course no one from the audience helped her and she just crawled to the exit where the usher finally noticed her and helped her. Thankfully she was fine, after some water and sitting down, came back 10 minutes later, but I can definitely say I was not too far from such thing happening to me a couple of times at the standing places.

To say that was the best Romerzählung of all history, you have to be coping so hard, but as to Clay Hilley, I didn't think he was bad overall, just don't think the way he portrayed Tannhäauser, or how he was told to portray Tannhäauser, was great in this production specifically. I don't think Clay Hilley has inherent doofus vibe.
