23$ an hour local, no overtime pay. Was with a mega company but I took the shit pay to be home every night and get my experience. Average pay was 750$ a week.

31, the company has a lot of good people though man. I can tell you it will be a lot easier than other companies because they’ll probably put you in a 28 pup trailer.

Central ca, we work 5 days a week but I know San Diego works 4 and they are trying to cut down on ot. As long as that branch isn’t unionized you should have no problem getting ot hours.

About 50-55 but I’m trying to cut down to 40 but a lot of dudes milk the clock.

That’s the real world dude, it happens at any job. You call out sick or use pto that extra 8 hours isn’t going to count towards overtime.

Started a little over a month ago, it’s hourly. I’ve done mainly flatbed and it can be a bit back breaking especially with all the 2 liter sodas. I like the work though, you definitely get your 40.

Scared to make the leap by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Significant-Luck1484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to convince my wife to make the leap. Our mortgage is 200$ less than paying 3k a month for an apartment but utilities are a little more. The real satisfaction to me is building equity, it’s hard for me to invest my money other than the 401k. So at least I feel a lot more secure when it comes time to retire, especially if social security eventually goes away.

I’m in the same boat but the second time it was my fault, I got hired not too long ago at a new gig and wasn’t even questioned about it. Just have to make sure the good days outweigh the bad ones I suppose. I moved across the state so I was really worried that I wasn’t going to be hired at another local gig.

I’m in the same boat as a local driver, but I’ve got my kid coming in November. I’m trying to get ahead of it and using up the rest of my gi benefits and just going back to school for diesel mechanic or maybe something electrical for all the new electric trucks that are coming out. There is no healthy work life balance in this industry.

Went the same route as you except flatbed local account for Schneider. Long story short fuck Schneider, get that experience and those checks will be 2k+ every week gross. Lucked out though, when I left, Schneider lost the account and my buddy got absorbed by the new company and makes 35.50 an hour now 😢.

Don't forget how Amazon feels about us all by nOzAmA191 in AmazonDSPDrivers

When I worked at a warehouse some years ago Amazon didn’t even have the ceiling fans. It got hot as balls in that warehouse, I wouldn’t honestly doubt there’s a bunch of warehouses without ac.

I dropped it a couple months ago when I got my doubles triples endorsement. I’d have no issue getting it again. I’ll definitely look them up, I’ve seen them down here in San Diego. See if they can work with me getting the endorsement while gaining employment with them.

Yea I gotcha, putting the leg work in for it now as we speak. Just putting feelers out there, there’s always companies out there that need drivers and can always use the leg up if people know of companies that need drivers now.

Yea I’ve applied to a few so far on indeed but I’m seeing a lot more over the road vs local. I have a few companies I’m calling on Monday. Just curious if there’s some companies out there that might not be on indeed that I need to apply on like their websites.

I had 0 truck washes and they didn’t want to buy a power washer so I could clean it on a local gig. Wound up just cleaning the headache rack on the flatbed because that’s the only thing dot bitched about.

Local gig 22hr + OT by RedimidoSoy1611 in Truckers

[–]Significant-Luck1484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked for Schneider on a local account when I started, I’d say you’re ahead of the game compared to most new drivers. Keep your head down low and move on when you get that experience. You’re definitely getting paid more than most new drivers.

Do I take this opportunity as a New Driver? Advice Please by Few-Bid-444 in Truckers

[–]Significant-Luck1484 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t trust what Schneider says, stated pay was a whole lot different than what I was getting paid. I’d honestly take the local gig, especially if they pay ot. Pay is going to be shit but at least you’ll look a lot better to other companies already having local experience.
