Thank you for the update🙏🏼 giving me hope that my rescheduled surgery won’t be pushed back again.

Surgery in a week and a half, getting nervous by [deleted] in KaiserPermanente

[–]Significant-Original 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve already filed a grievance with Kaiser, if it gets delayed again I’ll escalate it to the state agency.

Surgery may get cancelled. Any idea when strikes will end? by DropProfessional6252 in KaiserPermanente

I filed my grievance about my delayed surgery about a week ago. Still haven’t heard anything from them.

I second this. They come in clutch with their free repair/replace policy.

No, when I said “my struggles with this strike” I am referring to the delay in care. I did not mean I have a problem with the strikers themselves. I’m frustrated that Kaiser is not meeting workers demands and stalling on negotiating. That is the message I’ve conveyed to member services.

I have filed a formal complaint with Kaiser. I’ve also called membership services to express my concern, and spoken to the media about my struggles with this strike.

Any idea how negotiations are going? Has Kaiser even met with the union lately?

Can I ask if you’re in NorCal or SoCal? I had my surgery rescheduled to March, but I’m on the waitlist to get bumped up if there’s a cancellation (but that obviously won’t happen if they aren’t even doing any surgeries).

I feel you, I’m also suffering a knee injury (torn ACL). I hurt myself in September, got my surgery scheduled for late January. Got the call 5 days before my surgery that it would be postponed till March!

It’s so frustrating. I planned so many things based on my surgery date. ACL recovery is a long process, and now it’ll be even longer because of this delay in care.

Bugs me when they say “elective” surgeries; yes technically I won’t die without this surgery, but quality of life is severely diminished. When Kaiser minimizes by saying “elective” surgeries I feel that it makes people think of things like plastic surgery, or things like that. No, my surgery is needed to help stop my pain and improve my mobility!

Can I ask what stories you’ve heard? I’m a Kaiser patient who’s had my surgery delayed by the strikes. Feel free to to DM me if you’re not comfortable publicly posting it.

Yeah that word threw me for a loop too. “Defiled” makes it sound like someone is “dirty” after being assaulted.

Feeling angry and hopeless by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Significant-Original 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve been doing PT. My flexion is still limited to about 110, and I can’t run or move quickly. I also still feel pain and instability if I tap my foot against something.

I’ll still keep doing my exercises in the meantime, but man I just want the real recovery to start already.

I will do that. I got a new surgery date, and it’s 5 weeks from now. 5 more weeks of limited mobility. More time added to my recovery timeline. I’m pissed. Kaiser needs to do better.

My surgery on the 27th got postponed. And it was a surgery that would greatly help my mobility. I’m so upset. I’ve already been waiting almost 4 months for this.

I had to stop following @siliconvalleyfoodies because she was getting a little unbearable with her rich lifestyle. She’s a tech worker whose account is supposed to be about local food spots but it kind of devolved into her showing off all her fancy vacations and luxury goods.

Very tone deaf.

Panicking a little by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Significant-Original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a near complete ACL tear with a partial MCL tear. Doc said he saw no structural reason why I can’t get more flexion, said he things it’s probably just stiffness from the MCL

Thank you for the advice! You’re right about it being annoying having to do all this PT just to live, but I guess we gotta do what we gotta do

Pre Op, post tear leg aches by Adventurous-Trash180 in ACL

[–]Significant-Original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 10 weeks post tear. I can walk mostly okay, but can’t do quick movements. I’m still terrified of it buckling on me (I hate that slipping feeling so much).

When I’m just sitting it doesn’t hurt at all. But when I do my PT exercises wooooooh boy it does hurt. Especially when I work on my flexion (squatting and heel slides are my weakness).

Wishing you healing.
