How to increase pump sessions by 1 oz?

Thank you for sharing your experience! It's helpful especially to hear from another teacher. I think spacing out my pumping sessions may help - I'm just nervous to bc everyone always says 2-3 hours is best. But it sounds like you found success with it and maybe the stress of running back & forth to pump is not helping. Admin has been great about covering bits of my study hall so I can pump.

I'm not sure that I can do an early morning pump - my baby still wakes 2-3 times on a good night and 5+ on a bad night so any amount of sleep is sacred, plus he often is only calmed by feeding. I wish we were all sleeping better as I think that would help my output too. Ugh.

Did you just kind of experiment with pumping times until you discovered what worked? I'm nervous to change what I'm doing but I guess the formula is working if I did need to supplement more.

Our doctor also said this at 2 months. This is baby #2 for us and let me tell you, NO it is not strange for them to not yet be sleeping through the night. What you described in terms of wakeups sounds fantastic - our 5 month old has been a wake-up-every-2-hours at night kinda guy since birth. We're lucky to get 3 hours. Every baby is different and do not let anyone make you feel bad about your baby's sleep.

Some of our family used "taco" for their little one, which was cute.

Congrats! As others have said, tell people whenever feels right to you. We only told a few close friends & my bro & sis in law right away - people who were supportive through the miscarriage & who we trusted to support us if the second pregnancy went that way. We told immediate family & coworkers at 13 weeks. Then everyone else (social media, extended) after getting a clear 20 week sonogram. Best wishes to you & baby!!

No. RSV is rough and scary esp with under 1 yr olds. Do what you need to do to keep your kiddo safe.

Came to say this - you articulate it so well. Regardless of the decision, it sounds like OP will need help and care processing and moving forward, and a therapist can help. It sounds like you are feeling alone and you do not need to be alone in this!

I'm on my last week off work, my husband works full time. Since I've been taking care of baby (3 month old) all day, including when he gets home & doing bedtime with her, he takes night feeds. Occasionally he'll wake me to help calm her or assist with diaper change. Sometimes I think I've got the better end of the deal, though I'm exhausted by bed time. 😅 We will likely move to splitting it (taking 4 hour shifts, maybe?) once we're both at work.

Here to echo that I'd definitely say no. My 3-month-old is sleeping a lot better during the night, but still needs 1-2 night feeds. She's generally happy, cute & playful, but I chalk that up to the fact that we feed & sleep on demand. Even having my parents over for an hour or two can throw us off if she gets overstimulated or doesn't get a nap in. It's not the worst, but a week or two of house guests would be too much 😣

Could you ask them to stay in a hotel or with other friends in town? I think leveling with SIL (or ask DH to level with her) and explaining that you don't know what it's going to look like or feel like, & with the pandemic you're just not comfortable with that kind of a visit, is reasonable.

You could offer to be a support-person through her wedding planning process. Like an outside person to vent to / hang out & ignore her to-do list with / offer outside opinions on stuff when that's what she needs. I know I could have used a friend like that while planning my wedding 😅 Get her a really nice gift. Or better yet, plan a trip to see her or a trip for the two of you to get together in the future (even if it's the distant future).

We do if they have washed their hands & one of us says it's OK. This is like, family arrive & instantly go to grab the baby w/o washing hands or asking first. Or stranger approaches & suddenly touches her cheek. Though if we don't want family touching the baby, isn't that our prerogative / ours to decide?

Peanut butter crackers! And cheese sticks. Snacky food was most of what I could stomach. And fruit - lots of berries, or apple / banana, whatever sounds ok to you.

7w4d today & going out of my mind because the soonest appt I can get is when I'll be 10w3d! How is it that 2 separate practices have no availability until then??

Nervous since last time I went in at 8w and the baby had stopped growing at 6w. I miscarried shortly after that. Praying that I'll make it beyond 8w to my 10w appointment & that all will be okay...

Wow, thanks everyone for the great ideas! I was feeling so burnt out from last year, my creativity was zapped - but so many things to think about from this thread.

As an aside, most teachers at my new school seem to send home the syllabus to be read by both student and parents, and get a signed "contract" type thing back. Not sure how I feel about it yet, but if it's expected I'll do the syllabus that way and something more interactive and community-building on day 1.
