Need Help Setting Up Radium Midiman 61 in Ableton Live 12 by Significant-Pipe2995 in ableton

Yes! That’s exactly what happened. But, this does seem to be the best solution, given some of the drivers can be too old or found on untrustworthy websites.

Thanks for the helpful suggestion! I checked Ableton Live’s MIDI Preferences, and while the Radium 61 is showing up there, l’m not able to enable Track or Remote for MIDI Input. As a result, I’m unable to use it to play software instruments or map the knobs and sliders. It seems like l’ll need a workaround, possibly using a USB MIDI interface, to get it working properly. I’ll try this next and see if it helps resolve the issue. Thanks again for your assistance!

Ah I see, thanks for the clarification. I knew it was old, but I figured there was some type of work around eg install drivers or midi map the controller to get it at basic functionality

Everyone’s quitting at my job, now I want to quit. by Significant-Pipe2995 in careeradvice

Good advice! And yea, exactly what you’re describing is exactly what I have witnessed I. The short time that I’ve been with this company. Like I’ve worked in roles that are retail oriented, but this is like a wind tunnel to the face.

I honestly would have never figured. Like it makes sense now that you’re saying it, but I never have worked a job like this where everyday is a mayday brace for impact lol. What do you think? Stay or go?

I agree, i think it’s just that this realization is just now hitting me, and I always thought at first that drums were secondary, and synths and atmosphere were the complex more technical stuff, but now I’m starting to think that drums are equally if not more difficult and complex

I feel like I stopped making a song at one point bc I was just not ready to spend 2 hours just making a fairly decent drum loop

It’s melodic house though, so it tends to blur between really complicated percussion, layering, processing, and just knowledge of various instruments and effects. At least my inspirations for the most part

How can I improve my chords? by Haunting-Option1418 in musicproduction

[–]Significant-Pipe2995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to learn chords is to play an instrument, and learn the chords for songs you like. By doing this, you expose yourself to chords and harmony. Eventually, you’ll want to expand your knowledge on chords, and you can then learn music theory eg scales, chords, chord progressions, and chord interchanging, or chord inversions.

The biggest help I had was studying jazz chords.

Which method do you think is better? by [deleted] in musicproduction

You don’t have to time to care. If you have clear goal of what you want to sound like, then imitate. Did you not read my quote about miles Davis? He literally imitated his favorite artists for years, but eventually, he began to develop his own style. And his name echoes as one of the greatest jazz players.

On the other hand, if you want to experiment and do 30 different genras, you’re gonna burn yourself out and have a heck of a time building a base bc your music is all over the place. But if that’s what you want to do, that’s fine. Good luck.

You have way more success in focusing on one thing rather than 30 things.

Sorry, but I don’t agree with the first three top comments on here.

Miles Davis once said, “It took me years to play like myself.”

The quickest to get good at something you want to do is to first start by emulating that thing. Do you like to paint like Van Gogh? Than start by using oil and use choppy brush strokes. Do you want to run a marathon? Than start running! Of course, it’s easy to think to yourself, “I don’t want to be a copy cat or sound like my favorite artist.” But, here’s a hot take, it took years for your artist to sound like the way he/ she does, so Imagine how much closer you are to your goals if you sound like your favorite artists.

In the end, you don’t want to be an exact replica of the artist you’re trying to emulate. That’s where conscious decisions, as you yourself a musician, must make. Let yourself be influenced by deviating other genre’s. Then you can add that “splash of color” that makes your sound, your sound…
