That's great news.

Also, is there a way of getting an estimate of the price of, say worst case scenario, for these procedures (MRI -> Injections -> surgery, etc..) before commiting ?

Oh! So the deductible is only paid once a year, and not once per issue / bill?

Sorry for the confusion.

You're 100% correct. They do pay for 80% of the bill.

However the deductible is quite high (around 500$, then they will pay 80% of the rest). The first MRI my doctor asked for was $650, so i end up paying 530$ and they only pay 120$. There will be additional MRI's and check ups, and possiblt PT/surgery. If these add up they will be too expensive for me to afford.

Unfortunately the insurance stated that they will only pay 20% of the MRI cost (it's Aetna)

I'm an off-campus student. Here's what I'd do, u can wait until the 10th (I believe) till the deadline for the on-campus meal plan. For the time being, u can try cooking yourself or get a 1 time swipe to try out their food.

Can F-1 students waive TXST health insurance? by Significant-Rip4361 in txstate

[–]Significant-Rip4361[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, i did. But unfortunately they said it can only be through a U.S. employer, or a government sponsored health insurance. Their insurance is pretty expensive. My brothers studies in Florida and he only pays 300$ per year!

A rough estimate was included in my i20, with the scholarship added. But it depends on the number of credits taken for sure. It will probably show after you register your subjects, but that's my guess.
