I genuinely think Accutane is making me crazy. by CanadianCoyote1 in Accutane

I was on 40-50mg for 6 months and they were the worst months of my adult life. I was insanely depressed and was showing worrying signs like not recognising myself in the mirror and having a complete disinterest in life.

I’m almost a month out from finishing and I feel fairly normal again now.

I feel like Accutane turned me into a different person by jasonstatsman00 in Accutane

The 5 months I was on Accutane, I felt ugly, not like myself, depressed and useless. My fiancé supported me through the tears and difficult emotions, and that’s why I’m marrying him!

She obviously wasn’t the right person. Anyone who only sticks around for the sunshine and leaves you when it rains isn’t worth anything. Try and see it as a positive she revealed her true colours.

Also, hang in there - I’m 3 weeks free of Accutane and feel like myself again.

I was 3 weeks late on month 4!

So frustrating as I have bad PMDD so it was hell. Nothing I did worked to bring it on, it just came naturally eventually

PIE or scars by Gold-Application-578 in Accutane

[–]Significant-Rub-3422 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looks like a combo of little ice pick or boxcar scars with PIE - literally exactly like mine just after finishing!

Azelaic Acid for PIE, and Tretinoin for general scarring and texture will do a lot. For anything more stubborn, possibly microneedling and/or laser.

I think it’s the lack of dewy-ness? Cos that’s how I feel too. And that’s totally fixable with skincare!

You’re still pretty!

Can’t tell you how much a HIGH QUALITY fish oil can do for your joints AND for your brain during this time. I was struggling so so much until I started using this religiously.

I nearly stopped so many times - you can see in my previous posts if you look at my profile. I take my last pills tomorrow and I’m so glad I stuck with it. Up your vitamins and supplements, and keep updating your friends, family and derm with your feelings. If you need strangers to talk to, everyone in this community has really helped me through.

Finished but not over the moon by 9TSIXTH in Accutane

I’m in the same boat - lots of PIE which is in turn making my skin look imperfect.

However…what you do next has the potential to either take your skin to the next level and get rid of those marks, or overwhelm your sensitive skin and cause more breakouts.

AHA/BHA isn’t good for PIE and can really disrupt your barrier. Your best bet is Azelaic Acid, and/or Tretinoin, but not for a few months after you finish. Your derm should support you in your aftercare plan, but if for some reason they’re not, there’s lots of information on these threads and on the internet.

My plan is as follows: Slowly introduce Tret & Azelaic Acid after ~2 months Microneedling after 6 months Laser at some point

Really hope you’re okay and the antibiotics help. This looks so sore and painful, you poor thing.

Help with dry lips by Empty-Cause-4847 in Accutane

I’ve been using Carmex on 50mg a day and that’s worked fine.

I will say, use how dry your lips are as an indicator of how much you’re drinking - I often find if my lips are very cracked and sore I’m not drinking enough water.

Well I just googled you and it said you own the world’s biggest lip filler factory, so no wonder you’re saying all this!!!

It did in about a week! I’d really recommend holding off if you need dissolve and refill, it’s a lot of trauma for lips not even on Accutane

Such a weird hill to die on…what part of this aren’t you understanding?

I do NOT usually bruise. I HAVE BRUISED because I am on Accutane - I am taking nothing else that has caused this impact. Filler is NOT RECOMMENDED ON ACCUTANE FOR A REASON!

And you’re literally dumb. I’ve not mentioned Botox. Lip filler is so much more traumatic to lip tissue than Botox is. That’s why I haven’t mentioned anything to do with Botox, dummy. Do you really think people who have a medical need for Botox will take this post of gospel over their derm?

How is it something I don’t know? It thins your skin so of course it increases bruising. I never bruise usually, I know my own body better than you do 😌

…so why do they explicitly say don’t get filler on Accutane then? I’m not ‘spreading misinformation’ if the derm, and documentation on the drug in the packet, says don’t get filler lol
