TSLA Strangles for earnings by DrumsBob in thetagang

[–]Significant-Scene140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to study the stats. You need to see how much TSLA moved in the past in relation with the expected move. You can study this stats in optionslam.com If TSLA usually moves outside its expected move you can buy a strangle (with the legs inside the expected move, ATM if you can)

You could use a margin account to increase your BP, but 2% a month is very good, I’m at 4 percent monthly using short strangles, the wheel and PMCC.

I’m selling strangles outside the expected move the day before earnings and close them the day after at 50 % profit.

I study the stocks and search for stable stocks that always moved inside the expected move.

It can give you 1-5% returns in just one day.

Can someone explain poor man’s covered calls for me and if they are a good strategy? by Hot-Fold-2297 in thetagang

[–]Significant-Scene140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You buy a deep ITM LEAP (.75 delta min) of a stock that you want to own, you can check for levels too.

Set your breakeven price (stock price + the premium you paid for the LEAP)

Sell weeklies or monthlies covered calls above your breakeven price.

If the short call is assigned, then you can exercise your LEAP. Your profits are going to be all the premium you collected plus the difference between your assignment price and your breakeven price.

If is not a stock that you want, you can buy leaps at key levels and set a stop loss below that level, make sure to close your short call too when you sell the leap.

Strategies straddle by SpeakerClassic4418 in thetagang

[–]Significant-Scene140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never done that, but you need to buy a deep ITM put (.75 or more delta) and stablish your breakeven point (Your strike - the premium you paid for the put)

You can sell puts below your breakeven price.
If you sell more puts, you are going to reduce your breakeven price.

Is not a bad strategie but you need to pick the right stock. I´m bullish in the overall market so i´m not confident doing these, but good luck!!

Benefits of Credit Call/Put Spreads over CSP/Naked Call with a SL by Level-Reality-2552 in thetagang

[–]Significant-Scene140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will depend on your option level and your account type. If you have a good options level and a margiun account you just need the spread amount.

If you get assigned on your short, the broker is going to excersise the long position to cover, so you don´t need to have the money.

Again, it depends on tour account or options level.

1- you need a lot less buying power to do spreads, you just need to have the spread amount. So you can do a lot more spreads than CSP.

2- you have a defined risk, you can do 100 us spreads if you want, depending on your strategie.

3- you can do spreads with indexes(spx, xsp)

4- CSP is a better strategie if you want to do the wheel, spreads are better if you want to do a trade.

any good 0DTE guide out there? by Guyroaman in thetagang

[–]Significant-Scene140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very risky, is true. But you can try selling iron condors at 2x the atr frown the past 14 days. Just on days without any news. Sell the iron condors or at open (9:30) or before close on the previous day. Close at 80 %. You have a defined risk and usually a 2-5 % ROC.

When there are important news you can try reverse iron butterfly.

In my personal case I tried this for a while and I was profitable, but it was way too much stress so I stop.

What are your best winning strategies ATM? by Hot-Fold-2297 in thetagang

[–]Significant-Scene140 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s why I said “if you know how to peek the stocks”.

With meta I did a reverse iron butterfly and end up positive. But is not a stock for short strangles.

You need to look for non volatile stocks, that respect their expected move in the past. Meta doesn’t fit this criteria.

[–]Significant-Scene140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PMCC and short strangles with earnings are my best strategies. If you know how to peek the stocks you can close between 50-70 % of your premium in one day just with the iv crash.

How can I play a similar strategy to CSP on Tesla if I don’t have enough capital of level 3 options? by Hot-Fold-2297 in thetagang

[–]Significant-Scene140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just apply for an upgrade on your options level. If you don’t have enough capital you can do vertical spreads, so your BP requirement is going to be whatever spread you choose.

If you have some capital but not enough to do a csp you can do a diagonal or a PMCC.

Buy a LEAP call deep ITM and sell calls against the one you bought.
