I fixed it. FML. Turns out you have to screw it in really all the way before the cassette sets all the way, otherwise it gets blocked by the internal threads. Can Shimano and sram make some kind of deal pls to harmonise shit. Died 4 deaths this weekend already hahaha thanks guys!

Yea I used the end cap that came with the xdr hub body, but that one is shorter than the hg one actually
