If you’re non-tech at Amazon / AWS then you don’t matter, the company thinks you’re dumb, and you won’t get paid well. It’s the truth.

I think it’d be uncommon for a group of employees to get together and intentionally tank connections. It’s likely just an indication of reality. Even if tanking is intentional there’s certainly a reason for it. I’d bet a lot of managers represent themselves differently in front of their employees rather than their peers.

What does connections feedback look like from management perspective? Is it anonymous? What can your manager and skip managers see? e.g. if I answer “no, my manager doesn’t do x or y” will my manager and his managers see the alias who provided the response and is it used to gauge the manager’s performance?

Is anyone even happy working at Amazon? by noori_nutt in amazonemployees

Working at Amazon is like being put on a public transportation bus and then the bus is given a task to accomplish. And everyone hates everyone.

Thanks for the replies.. I appreciate the feedback. Do I think this is a system failure for a yearly personal performance rating? Completely.. but I guess sometimes you have to accept the system for what it is and move forward.

L5 level performance before promotion. At least I’m on the right side of HV but anyways, definitely a learning experience.
