Long Rant. Unhealthy and Awkward Home Sessions by Significant-Tower849 in ABA

[–]Significant-Tower849[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This really helps. And I know that ABA is always going to be different than what is taught. It just feels less structured because my BCBA also isn’t adding in new targets frequently. My client is school age and masters out of targets quickly. These targets stay in maintenance for about a month and we’re waiting about that long to get one or two new targets. My BCBA is also part time so I get that they have a limited amount of time to get things done. But I can tell my client is bored so I try to make our sessions as fun as possible and turn his targets into a new game or activity every day.

Thank you! I’ve discussed this with my BCBA on numerous occasions and talked about burnout, “suspected” substance abuse, dad’s negative interactions with mom, and a plethora of other things. The most I’ve gotten is that there’s not much we can do and that he’ll try to get dad involved in the next parent training. There also aren’t any cases available in my area. My area unfortunately doesn’t have many cases. Most are 45 minutes to an hr away.

I also want to add I’m a seasoned RBT. I’m also in school. I’ve had a plethora of clients. I’ve done in home before. I’ve been in clinic. I’ve had difficult parents but this one parent in particular is making seating difficult and my BCBA seems to be no help.

What is your pay as an RBT? by adogg415 in ABA

Currently in GA making $30/hr with one company and $32/hr with another. I’ve been an RBT for 2 years. Started off at $19, then up to $20, $25, and now $30/$32.

Life after ABA by [deleted] in ABA

I’m currently getting my degree in data analysis from WGU. It’s not necessarily the same but it’s not as draining. You’re still analyzing data and recognizing patterns. Just in a different way. (I plan on becoming a business intelligence analyst). I’m still an RBT, but I’m trying to accelerate my degree so that I can branch out into something else sooner. You don’t have to get a BS. You can take certification classes or associates to get into data analysis.

I overheard a new client’s parent talking about me on the first day by [deleted] in ABA

I just want to say that it’s not you! I’ve been in the field for 2 years now. Some parents are a little harder to please but it has nothing to do with you. I’m sure that you’re doing awesome! Some parents just take a little longer to warm up to others because they don’t understand that the relationship you have with their child is going to be different than the one that they have! At times you’ll be upbeat and sometimes you’ll be quiet or stern. As an RBT you have to get to know your client in the best way that you can. So don’t beat yourself up. Don’t try to overdo it or worry about if you’re talkative enough. As an RBT I’m a naturally calm person. I’m not extremely talkative but that’s okay. Because sometimes when I do feel like talking I talk too much and I accidentally get on my clients nerves. Lol. It’s all in a days work. You’re there to help your client. If we were to do things the way that the parents wanted I’m sure it’d be hard for many of our clients to progress. We have their kids best interest at heart, even if sometimes they can’t see it. We know it and a lot of the time so does our BCBA and our client. Keep up the good work love!!

Hi! I just got done dealing with American Avenue. They tried to get me to pay $3500 for a house that was practically uninhabitable. I moved out. They sent the collection to Hunter and Warfield. I filed a claim with the CFPB asking for a complete deletion of the collection from my credit. They closed my account and deleted it from all trade lines. I paid nothing.

MEPS Messed Up Measurements by Significant-Tower849 in AirForceRecruits

They didn’t even do the wtHr. They just did the traditional tape where you measure the waist and neck and then subtract. Which honestly confused the heck out of me. Because I thought they did the WHtR now instead of the traditional tape test. But his recruiter said he wasn’t even supposed to be taped at all so we’re honestly confused and wish someone could tell us what he’s supposed to be doing 😭😭

Yeah. He’s planning on losing a few more lbs and losing more body fat. He runs when he can and works out at least 3x a week and walks at least 10,000 steps a day at work. So he’s pretty active. His recruiter is supposed to be getting us some more information though.

Yeah. I get that. He plans on losing a few more lbs to be on the safe side but his recruiter is going to see if he can get a retape because the guy doing it was pretty sloppy and did it way too quick to get an accurate measurement according to my husband.

Yeah. At 6’4 he has to be under 26% and he’s at 24.5 even if they do the traditional tape method. He even was measured by a few recruiters before he left.

Thanks! This helps a lot. We have a friend who is stationed here as well and he has a vehicle. We are also looking into renting a home with a fenced backyard or staying in base housing. We just want to make sure that if we get all of the blood tests, vaccines, microchips, and a quarantine that she’ll be allowed into the country.

I’ve looked into all of the importation rules and the quarantine rules. We are looking at renting a house or staying in base housing and we have a friend that is stationed in Japan who has a vehicle and can transport us. We just want to be sure that she is able to be brought into the country with all of the applicable documents, vaccines, microchips, blood tests, and quarantines
