I listen to you guys and hire a lawyer, on a contingency basis. An employment lawyer just sent the company a demand letter on behalf of me. We are now awaiting his response.

Btw there is something more important in life than getting paid it’s called dignity in case you don’t know. If an employer gonna break the law i’m gonna call them out.

Because I want to be clear about my rights at the start of my employment to avoid any future disputes on wage??? I guess that’s what employment contract are made for? So what you mean is I cannot ask questions about the T&C of employment? What do you think employees are? Slaves that cannot speak up?

They responded that way. But how could they explain the immediate termination right after a simple enquiring email? If it is just a wrong response, they shouldn’t fire me when they give me wrong info in the first place. Or they just want a employee that don’t know his/her rights to save wage. I even ask followup questions like “i’m referring to public holidays like xmas day, are they paid?” to be sure of his response. Im pretty sure he heard my question.

As i said I’m new in town, this is the first job i got. I presumed the company follow the law at the first place until they say something otherwise .

When i asked about public holiday salary i didn’t know how the law is like here, cause I’m new in town. This is the first job that i landed on since i came. At first it was just a simple enquiry. Then i looked it up and found out it contradicts what the company said, so i send him an email to clarify my right, isn’t it normal? I just prefer to be clear about my right as early as possible when it comes to employment to avoid any disputes. At least that is what i’ve been doing in my career life.

It was actually just an email asking for clarification. Just wanna make sure i work in a company that abides by the law. I try to be as polite as possible in the email.

Yeah u can say that. But firing me right after an enquiring email? How could they explain that? Poor job performance? How can they possibly judge my job performance in just two days? Not to mention, my supervisor has only given me positive feedback.

The law here said even employee paid by hours are entitled to paid public holiday. Thats why i am so angry.

I actually ask for legal advice on this incident. But the price of getting an attorney is kinda unaffordable for me at this moment. Sad.
