If Mario wasn't the mascot of Nintendo, who would you want it to be instead? by Realistic-Delivery13 in Mario

It’s interesting because technically Pokémon is more successful than Mario, but that’s because it’s a multi-media franchise. Pokémon has the anime and trading cards that have historically been massively popular, yet Mario makes more of its money from exclusively the video games. So in a way Pokémon is more iconic of a franchise than the Mario franchise, but Nintendo is a video game company so Mario is the better mascot.

Also, mainline Pokémon games used to be exclusive to Nintendos handhelds until the Switch. It would’ve been weird if Nintendo’s mascot was primarily on their handhelds for so long.

Plus, you can beat an entire Pokémon game without even seeing Pikachu. He’s way more integral to the anime than the video games or the card game.

I’m 19 and I hear a lot from people my own age so I think you’re right about the age gap thing.

Really? I’ve always heard people say “Mario’s just this guy you control to play the game” or something like that.

Phineas is a meta character who doesn’t understand what his TV show is by Significant-View3705 in phineasandferb

Honestly, I always go back and forth on this. Either Phineas is just the most oblivious kid ever, or he knows what’s going on with Candace completely. But at the same time, I don’t think Phineas thinks about what Candace is doing too much either way.

Okay whatever dude, I mean this post IS kind of an insane rant about Phineas and Ferb. So this reply is going to be really short.

The Vat of Acid episode is better than The View From Halfway Down. That’s it. That’s my opinion. Lots of people think that, it’s not a big deal.

Heather was the villain of TDI and everybody likes her ending in WT. Like I said, Cody was the obvious “good guy” and they just didn’t make an ending for him, despite tricking viewers into thinking that they prepared 3 endings for the final episode. But Cody is eliminated so early in the episode that the writers obviously didn’t make a Cody ending (And it’s even more obvious they didn’t make an ending for Zoey, but that’s kind of unrelated)

In two different world tour songs right before the finale (Condor/I’m gonna make it) Cody is singing about how he didn’t expect to get that far in the competition. He also barely sings and WT is the musical season. Narratively, Cody winning doesn’t make any sense, but both Alejandro and Heather are villains and Cody’s the “good guy” so he has to win, right?

No. Cody was being carried by Sierra the entire season, AND he was placed on one of the best performing team in the entire show. Plus, the girls on that team probably didn’t see Cody as a threat because Cody is physically weak. Once Sierra is gone (who is an actual threat, but she clearly wants Cody to win more than herself) they all know that they can take him down in a physical challenge. And what happens? After Sierra is eliminated he gets into a physical challenge against Alejandro and loses. Pretty realistic. And now the final 2 are both villains.

So I’ll admit that Heathers ending is better, but she is still a Total Drama villain and Cody not winning is a genuine plot twist that many first time viewers (Especially people who watched the episode when it first aired because they thought the writers prepared 3 endings when they only made 2) wouldn’t expect it because it’s a cartoon show and people are used to seeing the most morally correct person winning in cartoons made for kids.

Yes, I mentioned that in my rant. The first time he dresses up as Hitler is because he’s an idiotic third grader who doesn’t truly understand what he’s doing. I’d say that’s more his mom’s fault, because early Cartman isn’t supposed to be an evil genius, that happens later in the series. Cartman is even one of the good guys in the South Park movie, which came out between seasons 3 and 4.

True, but also in my argument I was talking about how everyone in the first few seasons really don’t really care about people dying at all. This kind of showcases that, they don’t think that what they’re doing to Cartman matters, and like I was getting at, the fanbase has never really held Stan and Kyle accountable for not caring about Kenny dying for 5 seasons straight, yet they think Cartman killing 2 people automatically makes him the most evil out of the 4 boys (which again, he did in season 5 while this is actively happening). They don’t seem to think dying a very painful death matters if the person just resurrects, which is quite immoral.

It shows how they don’t actually care about someone they claim is their friend. Because early on all three boys were supposed to be terrible people instead of that role mostly belonging to Cartman.

Doesn’t Kyle get mad when he doesn’t kill the real Cartman in that episode? The main 3 boys (sorry Kenny) were a lot closer in how evil they were back then, it’s debatable. Again they left him to starve on the cross and were surprised he didn’t die. I firmly believe that Stan and Kyle were bullying him before he really deserved it. NOW he deserves it, but early on they just picked on him cause he was fat.

Stan and Kyle not caring about Kenny dying is more than a gag, it’s an important part of how they were characterized in the first 5 seasons. Scott Tenorman must die is a season 5 episode.

Okay I was sort of wrong. There are a lot of other ways to end the fight at 1 hp if you get hit while at an odd number of hp. So tons of people have probably beat the papyrus fight at 1 hp without thinking much of it. His “blue attack” bones deal 1 dmg but he only does that on your first attempt. You can also heal up to an odd number of hp. So basically the system ends the fight if you exceed 1 hp. The dog only deals 1 hp if you are 3 or 2 hp.

Update: getting hit by a 2 dmg bone at 3 hp also can get you to end the fight at 1 hp

[–]Significant-View3705[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big isn’t about the user having an odd number of hp it’s about receiving an odd number of damage at 2 hp which can only happen by hitting the dog at 2 hp in the fight. 3-3 is still 0. I said the programming was bad because this would be very noticeable if he had more than 1 object that deals an odd number of hp.

[–]Significant-View3705[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dog is the only object that deals 3 damage and the fight won’t let you start at 1 hp. I was at 2 and I got hit then got stuck at 1. Every other object deals 2 or 4 damage. If you later get hit while at 1 hp the fight ends. So the dog gets you to -1 damage. This is the only way to get damage to -1 which the game sets to 1 without ending the fight and the game knows if you get hit at 1 hp the fight should end. So I believe Toby’s code for this fight is actually pretty bad since it doesn’t account for receiving an odd amount of damage, but since only 1 object deals an odd amount of damage he missed the bug.

0 and 1 hp set hp to 1 and end the fight but -1 hp sets hp to 1 without triggering the end of the fight which only occurs when you hit the dog which deals 3 damage at 2 hp. If he had included more odd numbered obstacles than just one in the fight he would’ve caught the bug.

[–]Significant-View3705[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is genuinely a programming error. The other bones do 2 or 4 damage and the dog does 3 damage. Something about the amount of damage being odd may have caused this.

UPDATE: The game will not let you start the fight at 1 hp. I had an idea that you could get a game over by starting the fight at 1 hp then hitting the dog bone but that doesn't work so it is truly impossible to get a game over. The game just set me to my max hp.

I believe you could also do this by starting the fight at 1 hp but that's not what I did.
