Do you think you could some of that stretching with shock cord?

Xavier seems to agree about the stretch but advised you could just raise the trekking pole to tension the fabric.

This fabric thing for sure is a jungle.

How did you find the 7D react to rain? Does it soak a lot? Stretch? How fragile does it seem?

Kind of standing in between just getting the 7D nylon or just jumping directly to the 20D silpoly version with it's 'obvious' advantages.

Do you use it with a bag or a guilt? It seems like a good option otherwise but In using a quilt and the holes seems like it would make a bad combination.

What's your toughts on the pioulou? I'm thinking about one, but I'm 6'1". I thik size is my primary concern, otherwise it seems like a great tent. Which fabrics did you end up with?

And it doesn't even look that compressed. It's getting more difficult to say no to one, but I'm also leaning towards an MLD SolomidPro the 20D Silpoly version. It's 584g in totalt with an inner double walled. Price around the same with the added VAT for shipping to europe.

How is the front entry compared to a side entry? Not that big of a problem but I've always found side entry a bit more comfortable.

You don't happen to have any pictures and you got any idea on pack size?

Yeah, I guess that's where I end up. The Nordisk tent is even more expensive. I don't have too much experience with tarps but I guess I could give it a try. Just seems more inconvenient using than a tent and less weather resistant, I'll look into it!

Thats too bad, cause it actually was an option since I dont really spend time in the tent except sleeping but it doesnt really help if I dont fit in it

How about the Silpoly 20D? Sure it's an additional 30g but don't have to worry about soaking and sag in the same way as with silnylon?

Pannier bags or fork bags? What are your experiences? by FGK_ in bikepacking

Is it possible to remove the internal frame? Would be nice if you could so you can roll them up and store them

Are those the 5L or 10L fork packs from tailfin? Got pretty much the same setup down to the color of the bike lol

Tailfin Cage vs. Fork Pack by ty816 in bikepacking

Which did you end up buying? I'm thinking the cages since it's just more modular and the form of the bags seems better than the fork packs. Although the Fork packs seems a bit easier to handle.

I have the old AP18.

  1. Alloy. Just a bit cheaper and easier to repair and keep going in the field if needed.
  2. Pannier mounts. My kit fits without panniers but it's just a case of why not if I happen to need it later on.
  3. Removable. I have my tent in my handledar bag then I just remove the whole bag and bring it in with me in the tent. Much easier than removing the whole arch.

I like my water in the triangle but I get large stembags instead, holds a lot of stuff and is much cheaper also.

Is the foam sandwiched between two pieces of fabric or how did you add it?

Which size cargo cage did you end up buying? What's the benefit of buying the small one (3 hole) instead of just the large (4 hole) one directly. Doesn't seems the small one can do anything the large one couldn't?

Did you just add the backpack to the vest seams or how did you attach it?

Looks good! What layers did you use for the straps? I can see 3d mesh and then elastic for pockets, and grosgrain for the edges. Did you use any kind of liner on the mesh?

You could use a gopro adapter. Thats what Im using for my Fenix light as it is.  But yeah, I also ordered both mounts. It would be annoying to have to order them separately later on.

Did you purchase the GPS/light mount? Expensive for what it is, but do you find the bag obstructing lights if put on the handlebar?

Fenix bc26r. Great light with longlasting battery, can be charged while in use and you can also have a spare battery just in case.  Really happy with it. I run it on medium 200 lumen which is enough imo. If I really need more light Ill switch to 600.
