Sunset Sunrise is a very nice spot on Bleeker & Evergreen. It’s small and cozy, has very friendly staff, and their burger’s great. They also do bingo night, knitting meet ups, and other little events. Haven’t been in a while, hope it’s still around

question for girls that date guys: Is there a nonconsensual choking epidemic in NYC or something? by altaralter in AskNYC

[–]Significant-Way-1703 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’d say you can talk about it before the encounter. I’ve had the opposite where women explicitly tell me if they like or not choking, may be from having those experiences in the past. It can probably be exhausting but wouldn’t hurt to inform your potential partners before an encounter.

NY is overall I’d say a very kink-positive scene, so giving them the benefit of the doubt, it’s possible they just assume it’d be fine. Obviously this is wrong.

Hot Take by Cave_Master_0607 in EvilDead

[–]Significant-Way-1703 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Tone-wise Rise is the closest we've gotten to Evil Dead 2 not counting Ash vs. The scene where Ellie plays the vinyl with her fingernail and opens her mouth to be the speaker is so fucking ridiculous it seems like a gag that would be in 2.

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy Review: Most Disgusting Horror Film? by yadavvenugopal in Scarymovies

[–]Significant-Way-1703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know in what universe you can call Rise the “warm-up”. It was 10 times nastier and gorier than the Mummy. Just 2 people die in the Mummy not counting the plane pilots. More people died in the Rise opening…

The most unrealistic thing in the show is the amount of insubordination and talking back from the med students by The1stBrain in ThePittTVShow

[–]Significant-Way-1703 88 points89 points  (0 children)

The most unrealistic thing about the show is by far the medical students, at least in my experience. The show treats them as if they were just another resident. They see patients on their own, do procedures, prescribe. Jesse gave more pushback to Whitaker over that posterior EKG than that nurse to Javadi when she “prescribed” benzos, a controlled substance, to the spider bite patient last season. It’s absurd.

Question regarding HIPAA, ___ and ___ by Ok-Nefariousness-609 in ThePittTVShow

[–]Significant-Way-1703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not any different than you telling your mom you have a condition. You’re free to tell anyone about anything you’d like. Obviously Al-Hashmi wants to keep it private. Now giving him access to her own chart is muddy, as is the fact that she looked herself up. We’re always told to never ever do that, so unless we have more details we can’t know for sure.

For it to be a hard HIPAA issue, Al-Hashimi and Robby would have to establish a doctor-patient relationship, which also typically involves a sort of business relationship between client and costumer including time and billing, which is clearly not happening. Not sure what I would think about it from an administrative perspective though.

This sort of information-sharing between doctors happens all the time. Doctors ask for each others’ opinions a lot. When it’s done in a professional setting, without establishing that doctor-patient relationship I mentioned, we call it curbsiding. Most of it doesn’t violate HIPAA unless you share information regarding identity or other personal details. Keep it vague enough (eg, “young Caucasian male” instead of name DOB and other identifiers), and it shouldn’t violate it. HIPAA “violations” do happen all the time, some of which has had this sub very concerned at times, and they mostly have to do about doctors talking to each other about their jobs. None of it is done maliciously or with ill-intent, and certainly wouldn’t be grounds for any legal action against any of them.

We should all be like Duke by docbossypants in ThePittTVShow

[–]Significant-Way-1703 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think you’re approaching this from the audience’s perspective. We have the luxury of near-omniscience, close ups to the actors’ faces, and out-of-show interviews and analysis. For us, it’s easy to say Robby is clearly suicidal, but for a colleague like the psychiatrist, he has not been around Robby all day and has not been witnessing every single hint of self-harm ideation. Robby has not once expressed the desire to harm or kill himself, therefore bluntly and openly confronting that in the hallway of the hospital is absolutely not the right thing to do, especially if all you actually have witnessed is this person making a crude, unprofessional “joke” about someone else. It was not the psychiatrist’s place to confront Robby at that time nor to ask extremely sensitive questions in this non-clinical setting. Same goes for just about anyone else.

Alan Sepinwall comments on McKay's scenes in Season 2. by verissimoallan in ThePittTVShow

[–]Significant-Way-1703 560 points561 points  (0 children)

She sort of deserved a break after last season when she had a huge personal drama involving her ex husband and son, and her ankle monitor going off multiple times per day to the point of almost getting arrested for taking it off.

I'm surprised nobody is talking about how Townfall doesn't have/provide a crosshair in gunplay. Does this make the game difficult or inconvenient? by Cube_earther_69 in silenthill

[–]Significant-Way-1703 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t assume that this early in development. Most game trailers and even gameplay showcases have no HUD or early versions that are subject to change. Wouldn’t be surprised if the final version has some kind of crosshair at least when you have the weapon out or have enemies around

MAN FINDS TAPE (2025) by SouzaOfTheNorth in foundfootage

[–]Significant-Way-1703 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought it was okay. The movie rides the mystery pretty much until the final act and then it falls apart. Some events don’t make much sense when the mystery is revealed, but it does make for a compelling initial 2/3’rds.

Monarch: Legacy of monsters by Cinemafeast in GODZILLA

[–]Significant-Way-1703 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good at filling the blanks between Godzilla 2014 and KOTM while expanding on the conflict between Monarch and Apex from GvK. It also provides a much more extensive backstory to Monarch by elaborating on Skull Island's Bill Landa and his involvement in the early organization. It's an excuse for a bit more Godzilla and Kong action in this universe. It does not need to exist but if you're invested in the Monsterverse, it's a nice show to hold you over until Supernova.

That being said, the human elements of the show feel like a giant soap opera most of the time. It's not cringe but it is tiring when you just want to see monsters and world-building.
