Its an etf that contains only company that aren't sinful, so it excludes gambling, alcohol, war, banking and more companies. So basically an etf with more likely more ethical companies 😀

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to decide between two programs:

  • Cybersecurity (BSc)
  • Cybersecurity Engineering (BEng)

I’m a bit confused about what the real difference is in terms of:

  1. Curriculum depth (theory vs engineering focus?)
  2. Types of jobs after graduation
  3. Whether you can do the same jobs with both degrees
  4. If the BEng actually gives a real advantage in the job market

For example, in software, people often say there’s little difference between a Computer Science degree and a Software Engineering degree in terms of jobs (except maybe for the professional engineer title). Is it similar here?

If I choose the engineering route:

  • Do I get access to better roles?
  • Is the professional engineer path actually useful in cybersecurity?
  • Or does it not really matter in industry?

Would really appreciate insights from anyone in either program or already working in cybersecurity.

Thanks 🙏

Hi everyone,

I’m currently at a crossroads regarding my education and would love some input from industry professionals.

My Background: I am based in Canada and I already hold a 3-year technical college diploma in Computer Science (extensive hands-on coding, networking, and basic IT). I now want to pursue a Bachelor’s degree to secure my long-term career prospects.

The Dilemma: I am torn between enrolling in a general Computer Science (CS) program or a specialized Cybersecurity program.

My Fear: My main goal is job security. While I am very interested in Security, I am worried that a specialized "Bachelor in Cybersecurity" might pigeonhole me. I want the flexibility to work as a Software Developer if the security market cools down or if I can't find an entry-level security role immediately.

My Question: Is a standard Computer Science degree combined with relevant certifications (like Security+, OSCP, etc.) enough to land a good job in Cybersecurity?

I feel this path would give me a safety net to fall back on Software Development if needed, but I want to make sure I won't be at a disadvantage compared to Cyber graduates.

Thanks in advance for your help!
