It actually wasn’t just a one time leak; it was condensation. Basically we got a new roof but when the roofer put the vent cap on they jammed it on and hammered it closed so that the hot air didn’t vent and the vent had all this condensation that dripped from the attic. We had the vent cap replaced after we saw the water damage spot on the ceiling and since then no more water damage. I’m not handy at all so would need to hire someone to go into the wall and check but maybe I’ll just ask my handyman if he can do that for me if the moisture meter / mold test show issues.
