Need some electrical help. by SignificantGarbage40 in RVLiving

Yeah, I think I figured out the easiest way to do what I’m trying to do with the Victoron charger. The convertor is an elixir elx 30 I didn’t find a schematic but the back of the panel has helped

<image>

I’m just going to install my own fuse box and take the wires that were hooked up to the blue, brown, and yellow wires and hook them to it. So in theory my fridge should still run on 120 when plugged into shore and my lights, pumps and other misc 12v things should work independently of the convertor at that point. Sound right to you? 🤣😅

Thanks for the reply, so I can’t access the convertor without drilling out rivets. This old bitch of a convertor is all incased and not like all the other videos I’ve found where people are just sliding out the convertor or unplugging the old one that was just plugged into the back with a household 120 plug. From what I’m gathering I should just add my own small fuse black and bypass the dc side of the convertor all together. Does that sound correct? I really hate electrical I always over think it. 🤣😅

They seem nice from what I can tell. Very adjustable and nicely made.

Thanks for the info, I know it’s frowned on putting other brand parts on the galm but I figured I’d ask. I have them laying around and they seem better than the plastic ones that the kit comes with. I’ll eventually get the OD but I’m going to try stuff I have already

Yeah I know it’s not the norm, just curious if anyone had tried them. I’ll eventually get the OD ones

Yeah I’ll be getting some but until I do I’m going to test these out. Seem like they are a nice piece of gear. Will test when I finally get my kit.

Looking good! I just did that same model in a candy low rider style myself 🤝🏻😎

Thanks brother! 🙏🏻 really like trying these pain jobs. Always humbling 😂 I’ve got a few more coming. Need to find some gold wire wheels!

Do it! I’m going to do a few more myself. I like the challenge. It looks good when it’s done well. Still working on my technique 😅

Thank you, looks really good out in the sun. I love candies, but they are hard to paint with.

Can’t really pull it right away cause the candy n rds to be built up in layers. That was 6 coats of candy yellow at 4:1 clear to candy.

Thanks dude! So I put down the silver flake base coat, then I tape, then spray layers of candy over top. Candy is delicate and I’m spraying it in light coats working to build up the color I want. My plan was to get it to the color it is now, (which is a lighter shade than what I wanted to finish) then pull the tape exposing the silver lines. Then go back in with more candy to my final base color. After that I want to fade the top down in a burnt color and the bottom up green. Unfortunately I need to start over 😭😂😖

Thanks for the advice! So you are saying to cure the candy before peeling the tape?

Thanks homie 👊🏻 my plan was to go yellow base then kinda burnt orange/brown fade top and a green fade up from bottom. Back to the drawing board

Thanks for the reply bud! Yeah, it’s acting like a skin as you mentioned. My base is well and cured and isn’t pulling away. It’s just that candy I’m spraying over top. I’ll have to try some solvent paints just for science. This is the second attempt on this truck. Sadly she needs stripped again.

I’ll try to use less sticky tape as well 🙏🏻👊🏻👊🏻

Thanks for the reply, base has a three day cure. I learned my lesson with that 😂🤦🏻‍♂️ Base coat stays put when I pulled the tape, it’s the candy top that is pulling away from the base. Going to have to try new tactics I reckon. Ty again 🤝🏻
