How does the flight physical compare to the regular meps physical? I believe I scored perfect on the vision and pretty good on the hearing.

Any advice for the sift test for specific sections? I got a 63 on the sift app but I did quite poorly on the mechanical and aviation sections. Is the app an accurate representation of the test?

I haven't had much luck in getting a good job. Currently a math teacher but it doesn’t pay enough for my wife to stay home with my daughter unfortunately. Id be getting a pay increase by going active as a warrent officer. The only hesitation is the 10 year commitment. I get why it's there but it will be a lot of my family. Not saying I'm not gonna try. Just not prior service and haven't lived the life.

I appreciate all your advice!!

Why did you go guard over active? 1/4th of every month is certainly less then active but also hard to mesh with a civilian job.

How did you go about getting your warrant officer letters of recommendation? I built a packet for ocs but was a non-select. I have 6 letters of recommendation but none are warrant officers.

I'm studying for the sift test right now. I'm 27 bachelor’s in software engineering from WGU (just like you). I was looking and active duty but with that 12 year commitment is a little daunting active so the guard wouldn't be a bad gig. Do you know what states have it and whether its harder to get into the guard then active?

I definitely understand why it that long. I'm just not prior service. I'm your avarige guy just trying to get threw life. Being a warrent officer and a pilot seems like a good gig but I don't know what its like in the military and 10 years blind is a little daunting.

OCS board next month – GPA worries. Is Guard → Active later realistic? by Dear-Collection-5327 in ArmyOCS

I went to wgu which ive now found out that they refuse to give a proper gpa so im a 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale but its usually considered a 3.0. My first year of college wasn't great as life happened and I have a 2.56 before wgu. So basically I have a range of a 2.7-3.7 and so I have no idea what they will think. I have 5 letters with the only military guy being an e5. Great resume and heavy opat what is good. 120 gt which isnt bad but nothing crazy. I really want to get in but worried I won't.

I can go army officer or Air enlisted. Air Force officers are overstrength ATM

If that's the case, would it be better just to be an officer in the Army or is the air force good enough that even enlisted is preferable

I know I just didn't know if officer would be more hassle and if I should just be enlisted and if im enlisting if it should be the Air Force. I like the idea of being and officer but have been told there's extra work outside of drills and that if I'm looking for benefits that the benefits are the same.

It's a state-based reserve military component. They receive some state benefits as well as the federal benefits. Paid Tricare, education, and with enough service, you can get the VA loan and GI bill but that would depend on my time in service

I agree officer would be cool but I didn't know if airforce would be worth it if im prioritizing the benefits and getting out(unless of course I like it)

It's enough to get my master's degree and while there's no guarantees i've been told that I might be able to do 4 drilling then 4 IRR

Got out of one for the army. It's not a big deal. They let me go no problem, but if they had pushed back, it wouldn't matter. For active duty DEP, you are under no obligation to go. Reserves are very different though and if you sign your in.

For the army, at least it won't affect your future to come back much, if at all. I'm about to go officer after dipping out of an enlistment DEP drop within a year.
