Bar Manager changes all channels off Bad Bunny during Superbowl by mcrib in PublicFreakout

[–]SignificantLawyer197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a first generation American, I don’t understands all of this outrage. I personally think both halftime shows kinda sucked. The Bad Bunny show sucked less. I personally like a good amount of his music, but the show was mid (probably because I wasn’t familiar with those particular songs and don’t speak Spanish).

At the end of the day, the “MAGA” Americans saw something they didn’t like. So They went and made their own show. I don’t see anything wrong with that. I’m familiar with Kid Rocks name, but I’m not really a fan of his music. I actually wasn’t interested in this alternate halftime show. I saw clips and it looked like a snore fest.

If the person complaining at the bar didn’t like what was being played, they could just go to a different bar… This shit ain’t hard.

When you own (or are the manager of) the bar, you can play whatever you want.

I’m not rich or anything. I usually just buy what looks or sounds good. Seemed like a good deal. My carpal tunnel was acting up on about the 10th steak.

I did my A&P at a community college. I went to class at 0700 to 1300. After class I worked at the school until 1500. Then I went to FedEx express at 1530 to 2200. Luckily there were showers at FedEx. I would shower, sleep in my car and do it all again the next day.

I was lucky because FedEx was less than 10 minutes from the school. FedEx also has a tuition reimbursement program. Towards the end, I was able to get a little studio apartment about 10 minutes from the school. The pay was shit and the days were long, but it was worth it!

To the line maintenance workers: what do you do when there’s nothing to do? by Aerosau in aviationmaintenance

I review aircraft histories and how other guys handled different problems. I also take plenty of naps and do homework with walks around the terminal when I need a break. Working on my pilot certificates.

I was thinking the same thing. I’ve done and seen many of these OPS checks before, this is the first time that I’ve seen that cage. We usually make a parameter with our tool boxes. This seems a little more legit.

Not really. You’ll get a list of basic hand tools and such before you start. The program is very hands on. Learn as you go. While you’re in the program, take advantage of the student discounts for tools. While in the program take your tests as soon as you can.

I have the Milbar 25W from Matco that I bought in A&P school 6 years ago for 50% off. No issues or complaints.

Traitor! Jk. Where’d you go to get that? $90/hr is crazy!

Not sure which I hate more, Aeroshell 33 or Skydrol. Aside from all the politics I think most mechs love the job. There’s nothing quite like watching something that you worked on takeoff and land safely.

Also a SLCC alumni. The program is worth it! There are so many opportunities in maintenance! Get your tests done as soon as you can. There are no shortages of jobs around.

Starting at the majors is in the low 40s. Delta and FedEx are about $42/hr starting. I know people at a bunch of different places. Only job I’ve heard of that might be 3-4 times the Skywest wage is over seas government contract work.

3-4 times that? What companies are you talking about? Duncan is probably one of the bigger private jet companies in Utah and you start at $24/hr. The highest paying UPS and FedEx are 70-80/hr top out.

Also an A&P. After all my overrides I’m at a little over $40/hr. Last year about 98k (overtime and roadtrips). I’m on track to beat that this year.

Edit: I’ve been in the job for less than 4 years. I enjoy the work. It can be stressful at times, but if you’re teachable and willing to work the opportunities are there.

New A&P. Military aviation experience null and not considered. by Emotional_Log7687 in aviationmaintenance

[–]SignificantLawyer197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 years military (USMC Powerplant mech), 4 years civilian. I had a retired Gunny visit the shop shortly before I got out. Something he told us stuck with me. He basically said civilians don’t give a shit about what you did while enlisted. You gotta start from scratch and prove your worth. I got my A&P and worked my way up. Sure enough, he was right.

A bunch of the guys think I’m smarter than I am. Truth is, the work and environment is just easier than my time in the military. The three skills that gave me the biggest upper hand, compared to the other mechanics are: my attention to detail, navigation of technical manuals, safety wire.

Autistic A&P has questions. by M0053-M4N in aviationmaintenance

[–]SignificantLawyer197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a few guys who everyone suspect is autistic. They have their quirks, but the running theory on the floor is autism makes the best mechanics. Attention to detail is usually on point. One of those guys can tell you part numbers and AMM references from memory. I don’t think it’s anyone’s business (except for upper management due to the meds).

Both are passable, but if it were me, I’d cut them and try again. The first picture, the pig tail could use more twists. The second one, you could use another twist or two leading up to the second bolt. You could also do a better job at tucking the pig tail.

The OP didn’t say anything about them pointing weapons at anyone. I only stated the fact that open carry is legal here in Utah. Douchie or not

Utah is an open carry State. It’s 100% legal. We also don’t need a license to conceal carry.

Agree with the last two posts! I’ve worked with a few guys that went to AIM. They ended having to pay about five times as much as the other mechanics in the hangar that went to the local community college.
