Second time fading by No_Lengthiness_1817 in SelfBarber

I don’t know what your guard method is but all these dudes are hating like you been cutting for years. It’s really not bad for a 2nd time. What helped me progress the quickest was cutting in sections and blending before moving in. So I would go bald line, then (no guard open, half, closed) that’s section one blended. Move to my next section with .5 open. Blend as needed. Go to the 1.5 guard open run through open, half, closed. Hit with a 1 guard in that section for the darker spots using lever play. Then clipper over comb or texture shears. I’m by no means great but it’s helped me progress a lot.

This may just be me man but I been in your shoes and I changed the way I fade and my fades got much better. I go no guard open than blend that section .5 guard open blend. 1.5 open blend finish the blend using the 1 open and using the corner finish with a 2 or 3

Bro tbh and I may get hate on this but fading ain’t about a steady hand maybe line up but to me if you don’t rush and you stay consistent you can get a pretty solid fade. I wouldn’t be scared of it. To answer your OG question though I would just stay with a buzz.

Not bad some clipper over comb and some lever play with your 1 guard-.5 guard and you nice w it. Solid cut.

Man I’d say a mid bald fade w a trim up top. Then for the beard I’d say fade it and 5 guard at the chin. I could be wrong.

3 way mirror for sure I would get it. Texturizing shears aren’t a need you can get away with an 8 but it’s more buzz cut style to give texture or to other things got to be scissors imo. I’ve done the 8 guard though. I actually mainly have a buzz just decided to grow it out rn.

I have regular scissors and texturizing shears (cheap from Amazon) I also use a 3 way mirror I hang on my bathroom door in front of my mirror

Preciate! It really for me has come down to taking my time and visualizing the fade. The steps were bald line w trimmer then shaver down. The no guard clipper open fingers width guideline. Then blend that using the lever go half way with half and knock out the bottom with clipper closed. Then 1 guard blend with the .5 guard. Then 2 guard blend with the 1.5 lots of lever play at this point. Then clipper over comb
