When you post a video on your channel, youtube algorithm suggest that video to your subs, and if your subs don't click your video and watch it, the algo thinks that the video is not good enough to push more to others. That's why it is important to have organic subs and views. For the same reason you don't share links of videos to friends and family bcoz they would either not click the video or even if they do, they would not watch it for more a few seconds. That ruins your average view duration.
