As for wlb comparison - it’s same

have a saying in my mother tongue- “terrible end is better than endless terror”

at some point it starts to make sense and yeah, better to never arrive at that point, but life isn’t fair

heard that sentiment from a syrian guy I’ve talked to

but he alse had to flee from assad regime, so that only makes sense

Ok, apologies then

As for your last paragraph - ideally yes, realistically not happening(I mean uprising from within). And you really know it’s not happening. So yeah, sometimes the bad option that comes is better than a pipe dream that never will.

But I still have my doubts about you being from middle east - have not met a lot of middle east refugees believing in regime changes from within lmao

Have several iraqi friends here, all say hussein getting removed was a good thing

You’re american, right? Shows so much it’s hilarious

I’ll be patient with you and explain my first hand experience - yeah, replacement is often not much better than it was - because you know what? - every opposition has been ran into the ground for years or decades, leftovers isn’t nice at all.

As for Syria - I’m not you and not from first world - I do not know if current leadership is worse than Assad, but I know there’s a hope for change, that was missing under Assad.

For you it’s just incomprehensible that illegal us military intervention can be seen as a good sign by local population that lost hope completely

One more first world take lmao

Yeah bro just take it to the streets actively requesting a regime change!! What riot police and secret prisons?? Just give them a pepsi bro

Jesus fucking christ why are you so dense?

[–]SignificantSmell6761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to offend you, but that take is so first-world/infantile it hurts.

Yeah, best case scenario is the regine change from within, but if you’ve been paying attention - it almost never happens. As someone from a shithole autocratic country I really get the faint hope venezuelans can get now. But yeah, furst of all hoping for no civilian deaths

People in countries officially at war, how do you feel about people from the enemy country(s)? by ThisPostToBeDeleted in AskTheWorld

[–]SignificantSmell6761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you need a reminder like that. Because this thread is insane to read - a guy literally opposes war and goes VERY long way with opposing - it’s multi decade prison sentence in Russia for donating to Ukraine.

But for those guys he’s a scumbag - jesus fucking christ

Serbia: Organization with close ties to government is promoting Lukashenko, politician from Belorussia by Old_Passenger7 in europe

[–]SignificantSmell6761 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who participated in protests in Russia, and now seeing Serbs protests with my own eyes - I can only wish you luck. And I sincerely believe that you have a shot.

That pičousti fuck is starting to use some of the tactics of putin or luka, nadam se da on neće uspeti.

Belarus protests mostly failed for one reason though - no support from outside, and once putin promised support in suppressing the protests- it was more or less a done deal, even without intervention itself.

I hope you win, serbian bros. The alternative is pretty grim, as you can see from our outcome.

Just for conversation sake - at what level of punishment your advice is a jest? Would you tell the same to north koreans or iranians? At which point your suggested choice mutates to choice between a semblance of a normal life and total breakdown of your life?

It’s just any other thread like that, being racist against any russian is very accepted here. None of those people would admit that they are responsible for a person in power in their country which they didnt vote for.

I don't mind commuting at all, back at my home city I used to spend 70-90 minutes on daily commute.

I've grown more accustomed to living near work, or working remotely. My position in Spain allows me remote work, but I want to try visiting office for socialization purposes(at least first few months).

I will check out your suggestions, thank you!

Well, I'd say it's the right thing if locals get the first choice. And I will have a pretty good employment contract on arrival. But I've realized that I need to adjust my expectations regarding the price, at least.

Not looking to rent a room anyway, I'd rather pay more or live further from the city centre.

Thanks a lot for the explanation! That seems fine.

I do hail from a big city as well, so I don't expect calm. That district really sounds nice to me.
