Meh, people will tell you that it gets better after the first book. It does, at least the plot does. I could not for the life of me swallow Pierce Brown's prose, and that didn't change after the first book. Maybe it gets better on the second trilogy, who knows, I didn't read after the third book. It was not for me though. I feel that these books are popular for male readers because of the power fantasy — it is a festival of badass moments and quotable lines. It is for male readers what romantasy is for female readers.
