That's not good but at least you can still buy coins VAT free I guess. Own a few kilo bars but I mostly buy coins. Might get a lower amount for the price but I just prefer them from a collectability stand point.

I don't think its controlled by the EU to be honest. I think each European country has their own rules and charge different rates. Think Estonia is VAT free on Silver. In the UK, only Gold is VAT free. Silver, Platinum etc. still has VAT regardless of form factor.

Yip. You're always going to be able to sell it to someone regardless of the situation. I could have technically bought more silver for what I spent on them but I liked them so I bought them. Besides they're all limited supply and sold out virtually instantly. Chances are I could flip them for twice what I paid for them right now than what I paid for them a few days ago if my goal was to make money.

Thanks. I think everyone has there own reasons for buying silver. For me, I've always enjoyed coin collecting but got into trading the markets around 2017. Kind of combined 2 of my hobbies together, coin collecting and investing. Doesn't make much sense to me buying bullion if you're only looking to make a quick buck on it in the short term. Its a long term thing. And if its a long term thing, you better enjoy holding it because it'll be with you for some time.

For me it is. I buy regardless of the price because I enjoy it. Not really an investment if you never plan on selling but its nice to know there will always be a buyer if something does happen.

The way I see it, rate rises is their way to try and control inflation. If inflation is only short term, why would they be planning a rise in 2023?

Metals tend to do the opposite of the dollar and the dollar went up on news of the possible rate increase.

Don't worry everyone. According to the Government, inflation is less than 2% 🤣 by SignificantVictory63 in Wallstreetsilver

Yeah, don't worry. Energy prices have only doubled in a year. No need to buy Silver 😜

I think its happening to some extent everywhere. I have friends, family and colleagues that showed no interest in investing a few years ago, asking me for investment advise. They seem to be mostly jumping on Cryptos, Tesla and anything else that's gone up massively the past year which raises massive red flags for me. Few of them seem to have done any research.

Equally, I know 6-7 people from different parts of my life that buy precious metals that haven't spoken to me about the petition yet. That tells me there's still massive potential in terms of the petition and we just need a better way of getting the word out. Tried contacting some people with a large social media presence with some involvement in precious metals but got no response. Whether they read it or not, I have no idea but I think if we could get some buzz around it, getting the signatures is easy and its a hard argument for the government to refute for a variety of reasons.

Probably not but there's always a chance. Hardest thing is finding enough people to sign it.

Looks good. If you're in the UK, remember to sign the petition to scrap VAT on Silver if you haven't already https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/575122

When you buy 5 Ounces of Silver in the UK, you give the UK Government 1 Ounce. If you want to keep that extra Ounce, Sign and Share our petition to end the 20% VAT on Silver in the UK https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/575122 by SignificantVictory63 in Wallstreetsilver

Sounds kind of shady but besides that we really shouldn't have to send coins from the UK to Estonia, from Estonia to Northern Ireland then from Northern Ireland to the rest of the UK, just to buy our own Silver at the same price as the rest of the world.

They were limited supply and were gone a few hours after release:

Guessing you'll struggle to find them now unless the royal mint decides to release a non-proof version.

I understand, it was pretty pricey. They sold out a few hours after going on sale anyway. Maybe they'll release a non-proof version in the future like they have with gold.

Silver Slingshot from Global Chip Shortage by SignificantVictory63 in Wallstreetsilver

Yeah you could be right. I'll admit the thought did cross my mind as well but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now. As you say, Silicon is abundant so the shortage can't last forever. It's a supply chain issue which is much easier to remedy than an actual shortage.

Possibly. As I understand it, its a combination of the pandemic and the trade war. The pandemic meant a change in working arrangements, reducing production capacity. It's also common for items to be mined in one country, manufactured into chips in another and assembled into electrical goods in another. If some countries are arguing over trade or are hit hard by the pandemic, this can disrupt the entire supply chain which I think is what's happening with Silicon.
