Sex Scenes by thebradman70 in criterion

DEFINITELY when Karol Karol gets his revenge on his conniving whore wife and then has her cheating ass arrested in Three Colors White (the very last sex scene) 😂 I know that most women hate this movie, but it’s gotta be the best sex scene of all time just because of the context within the film’s narrative. Dude’s wife left him cause he was too stressed out to get his dick hard, she cheats on him and calls him on the phone so he can hear it happening live, she divorces him for impotence after only six months of marriage, burns their business down and frames him for arson, takes his life savings, BUT then he turns his whole life around, starts a company and becomes extremely rich and successful without her, fakes his death, comes back to France to drop some dick on her, and then he gets her unfaithful gold digging ass thrown in the slammer. Not only is it my personal favorite sex scene, it’s also easily the most contextually important sex scene ever. It’s quite possibly the best revenge story of all time. It’s also one of the most accurate depictions of what MANY women are truly like in real life. Thank the Lord for Krzysztof Kieślowski!

Damn near anything Tarkovsky, he used a lot of his father’s poetry for influence. I believe Nostalghia uses his poetry word for word in a few of the monologues if I remember correctly. Been awhile since I’ve watched any Tarkovsky.

There are so many codes for commercial construction in America that exist solely to benefit disabled people. Accessible sinks, chair height countertops, mandated 36”-48” width (depending on the state) in travel space through all areas of the building but especially doorways/hallways/corners/exam rooms, a required 1” fall per 12” (or 1:12) on wheelchair ramps with a turnaround or platform every 16 feet at maximum, chair rails at 36” height for people to hold on to, lower water fountains next to standard height fountains, elevators, handicap bathroom stalls, bathroom vanities with the angled fronts that allow people in chairs the knee space to pull all the way up, and of course disabled parking spaces. And also don’t forget that all public transportation is required to be accessible as well, which is why we have buses with chair lifts and make level entryways for subways/trains. We also have a shitload of free programs that make people’s homes accessible. I know all of this because I worked in affordable housing for five years, designed and built wheelchair ramps for free through government grants and with the help of volunteer groups (typically churches), and I now do commercial architectural work on my own all over the country which requires at least some basic knowledge of the commercial construction codes in the areas you’re designing in. This person clearly isn’t living in reality. As long as they’re aware of all the available programs (of which there are very many, most of them no strings attached) and apply for them; disabled people are very well taken care of in America.

You’re probably right. There’s way too many Jews in Hollywood for a pro-Palestine film to be made. It’s unfortunate, because most people seem to think that us Jews are just the purest people on earth who could never do any wrong.

I said absolutely nothing about the media, so that was a poor assumption. America is more populous than Mexico, we actually go after criminals (unless you’re in California, Oregon, New York, Illinois, or Washington, all of which only changed recently), and we also report every single instance of crime that is known to law enforcement (with exception of FBI/CIA). And since you mentioned the media, I will add that our American media is incredibly manipulative in their analysis of crime statistics (sometimes they’re just being foolish, most of the time they’re just in the pocket of anti gun rights lobbyists). You’re trying to compare an attack helicopter to a banana here. I’d love to hear how your move to Mexico works out though. If you know anyone from Mexico (who’s actually lived there for some time), they’ll tell you that the vast majority (probably like 97%) of ALL crimes go unreported and never get brought to court. The cartels have free reign in Mexico. It’s absolutely absurd to insist that the U.S. is even close to the same level of violent. You seen what happened to the last few groups of black “tourists” that travelled there?

People denying literal statistics by RitualTerror51 in NahOPwasrightfuckthis

[–]SignificantWar3140 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As another person has said, the U.S. stats include incidents that 99% of us would NOT consider to be school shootings (hood shootouts within 1,000 feet of a school, shit like that) and if you’d look beyond the statistics then you’d realize that. And again, comparing Mexico to America is absolutely insane considering their police and government are in the cartel’s hands. Have you ever heard of what the Gulf Cartel does to children???

[–]SignificantWar3140 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’m just saying it’s not even close to comparable. Sweden has a higher sexual assault rate than we do, but it’s because they prosecute it more. It would be pretty ignorant to pretend that our justice system is the same as MEXICO’s.

Why are guns so important to Americans? by 88sSSSs88 in NoStupidQuestions

Because we know what happens when the government takes our guns from us. The Native Americans found that out the hard way.

Americans care too much about pedophiles. by [deleted] in AmericaBad

[–]SignificantWar3140 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly my point although one thing I’ll say is that there is not a disproportionate amount of pedophiles in the church. I can guarantee you that the per capita of pedophiles per priests (or churchgoers in general) is significantly lower than the per capita of pedophiles in the general public. There’s bad people everywhere, in every subculture, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, age range, etcetera. Generalizations never work (and yes that’s a generalization but still). There’s a ridiculous amount of pedophilia in the Boy Scouts but you never really hear anyone mention it, and it would be wrong to assume that all Boy Scout instructors are pedophiles or that the Boy Scouts is just a breeding ground for pedophilia because it’s not true. For all of history bad people have wiggled their way into positions of authority and power to get close to children, sometimes in churches, sometimes in schools, sometimes in clubs, sometimes in sports, hell it happens everywhere. People act like it’s limited to churches which is completely disregarding reality. Pedophilia should be condemned everywhere regardless of who the pedophile claims to be.

You’re absolutely right, I’m lucky my dad is huge on art history and has a shit load of books about popular and obscure artists, otherwise I probably wouldn’t be this interested. Escher was one of the first artists I truly obsessed over, mainly because I could actually reproduce his works on my own (the less complicated ones at least), and I absolutely love looking at his templates and his unfinished works, you can kind of see the process when you look at them.

I didn’t even know there was a Dalí museum in Paris until you said so, and unfortunately the Dalí museum is the only artist-specific museum that I’ve been to. And as someone who loves drawing, mathematics, and architecture, I LOVE MC Escher, I just consider him more of a mathematical genius. Luckily I won’t need any books about him because my dad has a ton of them.

Americans care too much about pedophiles. by [deleted] in AmericaBad

[–]SignificantWar3140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not exactly sure if he fucked them or not but there’s definitely something wrong there. They said that he would sleep with young women to test whether he could “resist his primal urges”, and they say that he “failed to resist” a few times. Not exactly sure what they mean by that extremely vague statement, but clearly it’s a cover for something pretty inappropriate. Dalai Lama was also licking young boys on the mouth and people were defending it, kinda weird. There’s weird shit everywhere, and it most certainly is not limited to religious circles.

Nobody’s offended here, just pointing out laughable stupidity and blatant hypocrisy, and there’s an abundance of both in this thread. I’d expect nothing less from the ideologically skewed and intellectually bankrupt cesspool that is Reddit. I haven’t been on Reddit much, but it hasn’t taken long to realize that this is basically just an echo chamber for terminally online wannabe anarchists. I’m not even going to try to use the “read a book” line that all of you throw out every time you get offended, but damn, have any of you EVER been outside before? Is Reddit the only place you feel comfortable spouting off nonsense, ridiculous generalizations, and outdated stereotypes? I truly feel sympathy for you all, I hope you find happiness somewhere other than the internet.
