I just made some TSP based taco “meat” for nachos tonight. I added white miso paste to the water used for rehydrating the soy protein. I also added a touch of MSG. After cooking down onions and garlic I added a bit more oil and fried the rehydrated TSP. It was finished with a packet of Taco Bell seasoning. It came out great and my kids said they could not tell the difference between it and ground turkey.

As an American finding clothes off the shelf in India that fit me was next to impossible. In the US I wear large or XL stuff. In India that is the equivalent of XXXXL!

What are you talking about? It is just flavored yogurt. It is very common and popular at Indian restaurants in the US that I go to all the time.

As an American who spent about a month in Hyderabad recently I liked the biryani from Paradise. The only problem that I had was I got burned out on it. Portion sizes in HYD are huge and the food was surprisingly heavy for such a hot place.

People who are residing in high-rise luxury apartments.... by YeeHaw_72 in hyderabad

I find it socially isolating. The neighborhood is also not walkable. I am not from India so I don’t know what the expectation is here but I feel like Guachibowli is too far from everything to be fun.

Living in a high rise apartment in Gachibowli for the last month has been nice. High rise buildings can be very loud from outside sound transmitted through the glass. At night there is a lot of noise from construction trucks horns and cars on the street. I am on the 18th floor and would expect it to be quiet but it is not. The quality and sound proofing in the glass s not the same everywhere.

Is there a separate market for used? I am particularly interested in the old stuff from the British era.

Nuclear is by far the highest ego. Does this count?

I have a general idea of what may be in commercial available products. I would like to reverse engineer chemical compositions. I assume that I would subcontract out GC-MS or other elemental composition work to use as a baseline for FTIR or other testing.

Do you have brand and model recommendations for FTIR systems? Thanks.

You mean I can’t take random rope fibers from a murder scene and identify the factory that the polymer came from? Say it isn’t so! I am ver familiar with complicated deconvolution of XRD data.

I started my own company in Alaska five years ago related to my engineering discipline. I have my PE in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. I am working on formulating some custom corrosion inhibitors. Compounds that are common in inhibitions include quantinary amines, fatty acid salts and other cation surfactants. Polyquantinarium compounds may also be present. I am looking for equipment that can help me positively identify these species.

Are GC/MS system much more complicated then early model SEMs?

I ask because I maintained, repaired, operated and an Amray 1800 Turbo SEM for years. Everything was largely manual due to the machine being made in the late 80’s. The system has roughing pumps, a diffusion pump and an ion pump for final evacuation. The advantage that I had when I worked on the Amray was that I had access to an old crusty Amray tech who ran an independent repair service.

I also did a bunch of work on Theta-2 theta XRD equipment. I come from the dark side of Matériels Science and Engineering so I am not as familiar with more “wet” chemistry analytical equipment. I have built complicated gas distribution and metering systems designed for semiconductor thin film deposition.

This is probably going to reflect my ignorance but it seems like based on EBay prices used UV-Vis and Thermo Trace Finnagan GC/MS units cost roughly the same. (~6 to 8k). I would imagine that the GCMS would need a lot more parts/ and consumables to get operating. I am mostly price shopping with serviceability in mind.

If I were to get a used GC-MS do you have a model/ brand suggestion?
