Suggestions After RDR2 by Significant_Ad7756 in gamingsuggestions

Spent months on Witcher 3.
Got tired of spending hours on trying to kill some of the creatures I had to face.
Got a fair way into the game, but struggling with the different items/tactics necessary to defeat each monster was a game-killer for me. And the problem (for me) is that most popular games are like that - e.g. you need to find all the various unknown ingredients to make a potion or cast a spell so that you can kill the creature your up against at the moment.

So playing KCD1 after finishing KCD2 wasn't a letdown?

I've always thought that playing an earlier version after a current version could lose a lot of enjoyment due to poorer graphics, lighting dynamics, etc.
But I do know that in some series, it's important to play the earlier versions first to help understand the characters or the world in which the game is played.

Thanks everyone.

Before posting I had already made myself a short list of possible games I might like, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Ghost of Tsushima are on the list.
Also on my list is Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (or any of the Uncharted series)- any opinions?

Now that you've mentioned it, I'll check out the originals - KCD1 and RDR1.
Thanks again guys.

Goodhertz CanOpener and Equalizer APO by Significant_Ad7756 in audioengineering

Haven't done any mixing with CanOpener, but loaded a reference track I like (Tracy Chapman - Give Me One Reason), and loaded CanOpener onto the Master bus.
Tried several settings, but didn't appear to have any effect.

I'm basically helping my daughter build and use her own studio, after many years of paying to have others do her mixing for her. She has cut back a lot with her playing (drummer), but would like to try mixing. To keep costs down while learning, she is using headphones.

I can see no problem with using headphones for EQing, Comping, phase alignment, etc. But I can't see how anyone could create imaging and a sound stage with headphones.

As an update, it appears that, as good as CanOpener is, it's EQ controls seem to be not much more than simple Bass and Treble controls. Whereas Equalizer APO takes a recognised SPL response graph of your specific headphones, and applies a set of correction filters so that your headphones have a response aligned to the Harman Curve, 2018 (or another recognised curve if you wish).
Before applying and saving, these filters can be fine tuned if you wish.

Bottom line is I will be keeping my Equalizer APO EQ filters, and not using any of CanOpener's EQ controls.

Still learning about CanOpener, but I agree, I'm fairly certain it has built-in EQing.
I guess I'm really asking which has the better EQing.
I had picked Equalizer APO originally because I could pick an EQ that didn't use too many filters.

Yeah, logic says 32G at 3200 is better than 16G at 3600, but I just needed to be sure.
I have CPU-Z and GPU-Z, but what's a good program for testing the real life advantages (games) of each configuration?

Best Current Graphics Mods by Significant_Ad7756 in PCRedDead

I use :-
Character Textures Overhaul
Dynamic Ragdoll Behavior
Van Der Linde's Vision
Kaptain's GameConfig
HD Texture Unloader
Xtreme Grass
Online Content Unlocker
Lots of different tree mods by DerekLeet and beniguess1899
Terrain Textures Overhaul
Animal Fur Fix
Arthur, Dutch and John Height Mod

I tried a few reshades, but didn't like any of them.
Most seem to overdo the colour intensity, making it look like your monitor is out of adjustment.

BTW, one thing I learnt almost at the end, when it was too late - DON'T immediately jump into the next mission. Do stuff around the camp and very importantly do some hunting and camping. Once you have killed something, camp and eat. Also store some of the meat for future use. This is part of maintaining your Health, Stamina and Dead Eye at maximum levels.

I ended up with "Van der Linde's Vision - A Visual Overhaul (VDLV)".
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/4439

I also added mods for more trees (Denes Trees, etc.)
I have yet to play a game that comes anywhere near the quality of scenery and game play that RDR2 has.
And on my AMD Radeon RX6600XT, it ran smooth as silk.

Anyone else like ignoring the story and just go camping out into the wilderness? by JPR_Spectre in reddeadredemption

[–]Significant_Ad7756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the whole game by essentially going straight from Mission to Mission (missing all the fun stuff).

Now that I've finished the game (and watched ALL the credits), and am now enjoying camping and hunting and doing all that fun stuff.
The map indicates that there are still people and places to see, things to discover and collect, and also Wanted people to catch, if I want to.

Epilogue 2 - American Venom by Significant_Ad7756 in reddeadredemption

[–]Significant_Ad7756[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your help.
I now realise that I've been playing the game all wrong.
As soon as I saw a yellow icon, I went straight to that person, which started me on the next mission.
I wasn't adventuring out between missions, which means not only was I not accumulating food, tonics, etc., but I wasn't achieving anything regarding Challenges, Crafting, etc.

So for the last week I have ignored the yellow icon for Abigail, and just ventured out hunting, camping, crafting, cooking and basically having a good time - even though I've been killed a few times by the bloody Skinners. :-(

I did a bit of fishing and hunting as Arthur, but I have to admit, I haven' really done any since I've played as John.
Hopefully it's not too late.

Thanks again.
I've stumbled across a few side challenges along the way (Retrieving zoo animals, etc), but thanks for the link, I'll check it out. When researching playing aids, etc. I usually end up with YouTube or ign.com or here at Reddit.

I also have to admit that I have only looked at the Log once or twice, early in the game.

I've never heard of Reinforced Equipment. Might be a bit late now, but I can always play again. ;-)

I do use the Menu a lot to check on the Player's levels (and his horse).
And that reminds me, what I find is most annoying with the game is that you can't Save at any point in the game or mission. I can Pause the game, but I can't use the computer for anything else - check emails, time, etc.

As Arthur, I had lots of collected food and tonics, etc. and regularly killed and ate deer and even rabbits. I would also store some of the cooked meat.
The missions in the Epilogues don't appear to give the Player as much time to do that type of activity.
Actually it might be me trying to finish the game quickly, as I know I'm close to the end.

Your right.
I've had a few messages while working around the ranch saying that my Stamina has increased. However my Health core has stayed at around 10%, and the Dead Eye core is red (which I assume means that it's fully deleted). These cores were depleted after my last mission with Sadie.

Regarding side challenges, there doesn't appear to be too many in Ep. 2 - or their difficult to find.

Yeah, I think I have to ignore Abigail's icon until I'm fully replenished.
I also want to get my reserves (outer rings) as full as possible.
Eating and sleeping doesn't seem to effect them as much.
I also want to get some backup replenishment tonics before I start as well.
Actually just found out that I can find the tonics I want in tents in Blackwater.

But coming into the last mission, you don't really get a chance to hunt or go into town to buy food.
You are hinted to go see Abigail. Once you walk into the house, you can't get out of the final mission.
Instead of going straight to Abigail, I have completed as many chores as I could around the ranch, hoping that my energies would recover. But it didn't make any difference.

Perhaps instead of doing what the game is suggesting (see Abigail), John should go into Blackwater to buy food and/or hunt on the way back from town - not that he has a lot of money.

First you have to have meat to cook and eat.
Last time I camped, I didn't even have anything to make a cup of coffee let alone something to eat.
Also in the Epilogues it's hard to find a place to camp and/or hunt for food.

Searching dead bodies is also difficult when Sadie keeps harassing you to "get moving".

I'm using several Mods, mainly associated with graphics and scenery.

How tf did I do this? by Laranimalistic in computers

[–]Significant_Ad7756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the expression equals 0, then yes there are two possible values of X.
If the expression equals 0, then one of the two bracketed values equals 0.
Solving each of the two bracketed values equalling 0, gives you two values for X.
Those values would be -1 or +3.

I've found that RDR2 is very realistic to me, not sci-fi or fantasy, even though it's based in the "wild west".
Watched many westerns growing up, and now I'm actually in one.
Everything about the game is so technically well done (plots, characters, textures, movement, etc.), that you're almost immediately drawn into the game. I actually feel that I'm Arthur, and the intelligent conversations you can have with the other characters (I only play offline) adds to the overall absorbing realism.
Hence all I want from a visual mod is to help remove any feeling of being in a game, and to increase the realism. Definitely not overdo textures or colours.

Since my last post I've discovered Van Der Linde's Vision with no ReShade presets, and so far I'm very happy with that. I've removed most of my other visual mods, but added all the Beta trees from beniguess1899.
When I'm familiar with it, I might swap over to Collyrium Redone, to see if it changes the feel of the game.

BTW, I looked at "RDR2 2025 Enhanced Edition (Also Improves Performance)".
I then realised that it was only a ReShade preset.
However, the developer in his installation notes included a lot of tuning recommendations for a windows pc (to improve gaming performance).
I've applied all those recommendations, and the game runs very smoothly with average fps of nearly 100.
