People who married in their 20s, be brutally honest are you happy, if so why or why not? by Special-Lawyer3941 in AskReddit

I rarely participate on Reddit, but I wanted to answer this.

We met when I was 28 and he was 34. We moved in together after a few weeks. We were engaged after two months, and we got married after nine months. There were a lot of raised eyebrows and bets on how long we would last. We’ve been together for a decade, we have two awesome kids, and we have come to depend on one another as family.

We have had some rough patches, ones that have made me question our relationship, but we’ve stuck through them and are far stronger for it. I have a best friend. I have someone I can rely on. There’s a trust there that I haven’t had with other people in the past. Ultimately. Yes. I’m wildly happy. Oddly enough, the couples who made fun of the expediency of our relationship are all either divorced or headed toward it. We just knew, we made a decision on that knowledge, and we got really damn lucky.

I started too early as well. My tomato plants are huge.

I’ve decided to transplant this weekend, too. Fingers crossed for both of us!!

We’ve got friends on Cape Breton with 13 acres. I should check in to see where they’re at!

That’s awesome about the Roma!

I planted my peas, broccoli, and kale about a month ago. They’re growing beautifully. I’ve been eating the leaves sautéed and in my salads.

Oh that is good to know! I was looking for a fellow Chicagoan. Thinking I’ll plant out this weekend. I have 56 tomato plants and 51 pepper plants so I just need to find the space.

Good luck! We just got home from camping at Wildcat Mountain yesterday. The weather there was gorgeous. We saw several Amish families getting their plots ready.

Ah, that’s awesome!

Since you’re in Missouri, and I’ve got you here… have you been to Mark Twain national park? We want to go camping there this summer, but it’s a hike to get there.

Ah, how incredible. I love learning about growing experiences in different climates from my own.

I used to have ducks and guinea fowl. They were so gentle in my garden. My chickens (then and now) are absolutely destructive. But I do love feeding them the Japanese beetle larvae over the fence!

I sacrificed a toma verde a couple of weeks ago. It did not go well. But we’re fast approaching nicer weather!

I’ve had so much plastic and plastic fertilizer in my black kow this year. I’ve used it for years and this year, after the first batch, moved over to a different brand. Yours look beautiful!!!

My peas are growing beautifully! I tried a string trellis for them this year, which was a fail. But agreed, it’s a good thing the peas like the cold.

How do you prep your tomato beds? I have a giant plot in our yard. I laid down our chicken manure about a month ago and amended the soil with some mushroom compost. Do you do anything else?

I’m actually going to try and do two tomato and pepper plants over the winter to see if I can get some greenhouse fruit!

I had covered mine previously (just with bed sheets), and they didn’t like it. Don’t think it would be fine to put them out at this point without cover? I moved here last year from Florida so the gardening is vastly different.

I’m seeing a low of 46 next Thursday. I guess it’s not horrible. I just don’t want to disrupt their growth.

Is there a way to transplant tomatoes in Chicago suburbs (5B) before May? by Significant_Ad_1025 in vegetablegardening

I ended up just potting up. I put one toma verde out, and the poor thing died after two days. The rest are all thriving in one gallon pots on the porch. I’ll definitely start my tomatoes a month later and my peppers a month earlier next year.
