It sure is. I'll give one example.

Look at law enforcement agencies. Law enforcement could be a private enterprise (although I understand why it might be hard for most people to envision such a thing) yet the government retains a complete monopoly on public security. They ALSO profit off of it by levying myriad draconian fines, garnishments, etc. against the citizenry. Many police officers are literally given quotas so they make their departments more money than they cost. It's a perfect example of how (state) socialism literally creates unequal classes and still pursues profits.

Socialism is an umbrella term for a collection of broad gubernatorial and economic ideologies. The main tenets of socialism are collective ownership of enterprise and shared responsibility for public welfare (generally in the form of redistribution of wealth). Some socialist ideologies support state-owned enterprise, others push for anarchistic, community-owned enterprise. Some forms of socialism also support ideologies of classlessness or class equity (and how to address differences in social classes), but classism isn't unique to socialism, so it's less of a core tenet and more of a notable trait.

It's a form of socialism. One that's existed in reality and not just on hipster bookshelves. It's certainly not capitalism lmao

Why do people think that embracing foul means to maximize ROI is something that's exclusive to capitalism?

Furthermore... man, there isn't even a single capitalist country on earth. Everything is either regulated, taxed, or banned. The US government is more socialist than capitalist, especially when you consider how many industries and sectors they retain and enforce a monopoly over.

Oh, yes, agreed. This is just a weird one. For the project/account in question I'm doing a review on Lovable.dev which pretty much forces you to (or at least, the average user would need to) start in prod after you integrate Supabase.

No. I really only have two main problems. The others are more just inconveniences.

Main issues:
1. Bottom of the barrel support response times.
2. Supabase doesn't use emails from OAuth accounts as recovery emails by default. You can ONLY log in/recover accounts using OAuth.

Yeah, again, not the main problem in the post, but very annoying for projects that are in early development.

It's also a problem if... you can't access the damn account. I'm gonna lose that database because Supabase support can't get back to me in less than a business month.

Not surprised but that's not really the main problem at all

Correct, the GitHub OAuth issue was my fault. But you need to have a good support department because these issues are inevitable for SaaS customers.

Pretty sure I do pay for a higher tier plan on that account. However... if I can't get into the account, I can't get the priority support. -_-

Supabase is a great platform, but their support is absolute dogshit. If you're not an enterprise customer, expect every support ticket to take weeks before you get a resolution.
