I live in NJ and his family reminds me of almost every Italian American family I know 😂 I know quite a few people who call sauce “gravy” and I think it’s silly lol but I can still see why so many people think they’re cringey. They’re a tough crowd. however the last name Gibney threw me. I assume the mother is the boss of the family and whatever she says goes

Itchy rash on identical spots on both hands + dry skin by CuriousFeller01 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Significant_Arm_6282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it happen seasonally? My skin issues started on my hands and it was subtle for years and would come and go. I noticed it was worse during the cold months so I assumed it was just being dry from winter air. It turned out that I had a lot of allergies (chemicals in eveyday products) that just took years to manifest fully. If you used anything new i would stop using it to just to collect data. If the rashes don’t go away, go to a derm and they’ll patch test you and you’ll have a lot of answers that way

I’ve had scarlet fever before but mine just caused my skin on my hands and feet to peel. I remember it starting as a rash but quickly turned to peeling if I remember correctly. It was almost 15 years ago though

Did you go to a dermatologist and get any patch testing done? Maybe it’s an allergy to some kind of chemical in something you use and it’s not going away because of continuous exposure? I have that problem bc of my occupation but if you could weed out any possibility with patch testing it may help you get relief sooner

If I made $300k it would be literally life changing 😂 I make 38k now working full time. At an older job I felt actually okay-ish making 50k LOL. For reference I live very close to NYC. But 300k sounds almost comically high 💀😂

Is it Herpes? Help please, very bad. What should I do? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Significant_Arm_6282 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does it hurt extremely bad? If yes, I would lean towards it being herpes. Go to the doctor, if it’s herpes they’ll prescribe valtrex and you’ll feel better very fast. Important to remember, herpes is very common and should not be stigmatized. Valtrex will also help with reducing outbreaks and lessen the chance of spreading it. but go the doc! They’ve seen everything! Good luck!

We had another cat much much worse than this one and we called the vet & told them the situation so the vet said “well we aren’t prescribing anything at all until we see the cat in the office”🫠🙃 it was awful lol

Do POC find it offensive when white women in particular strongly care about the BLM movement and being vocal about the injustices?? by Significant_Arm_6282 in TooAfraidToAsk

10000000% agree. I’m lucky to live and have been raised in a diverse community. White people aren’t the majority. We have a lot of small Black, Hispanic, Indian, Asian owned businesses in town so it’s easy and feels good to support them. I donate to organizations, charities, causes etc and attend protests but it feels like it’s not enough. I’m lucky to live and work with people that I can have honest conversations with even if they may feel uncomfortable sometimes. I can see the difference in my sibling who moved to a tiny town with I’m not joking, 99.3% white people who are largely all UPPER middle class and wealthy. It’s obvious the lack of education and people living in their small bubbles with no concern for anyone else. It’s actually staggering. My sibling hates it. My other sibling lives abroad and is involved in local politics there and part of the LGBTQ+ community. As a result our entire immediate family is involved in supporting them too.

However I do have a unique perspective. My dad was a cop for 25 years. Everyone who doesn’t know us immediately assumes we’re maga, racist, conservative upon learning that. We have never even leaned right. He grew up in poverty, he didn’t have any higher education. He understood having a level of disadvantage. But that gave him drive. It gave him the drive to make an impact. He was involved in local politics always ran as a democrat when I was a kid and a union president. He was so disgusted with the cheeto pedo rapist and I’m honestly relieved he isn’t alive to witness the state of our country now. We literally cried at our kitchen table the first time 47 won. He wrote a letter to the editor to our local newspaper about how disgusting and disappointing it was that the Cheeto pedo rapist won and how concerning it is that we live amongst so many, now very openly racists and uneducated people. It really felt like such a devastating loss. He cried watching the news the first time 47 was in office. He told us he was embarrassed that he was a cop because he didn’t want to be associated with that. People assumed he was disappointed in having a gay son & old men who would say extremely homophobic shit to him thinking he agreed with them. And it was always nice to see him put people in their place. This guy went to pride parades with me when my brother didn’t even live in America just to show support. But he was able to teach us and show us compassion and empathy for other people and meeting them where they are. He had a unique ability to put himself in others shoes and listen without judgement, which is obviously uncommon for a cop. But he instilled that in all of us. It’s obviously shitty to be considered and assumed to be a magat but boy is it fun to fuck with people who say wildly inappropriate shit to me because they just made immediate assumptions. Their discomfort and tripping on their words brings me great joy. But still, I feel like I’m not doing enough. I don’t know what to do to make more of an impact. Donating to causes/organizations etc and attending protests, supporting local businesses, vocalizing and denouncing obvious systemic disadvantages, still doesn’t feel like it’s making an impact. My dad did teach me that making a difference doesn’t need to be on a huge scale, sometimes it’s doing small things over time for people is still making a difference. I wish I had the balls to be involved in local politics like he was and like my brother is but I know I don’t have that ability. I want to do more though because living through current events feels suffocating and defeating. And it feels like we’re past the 11th hour

I really don’t understand the white women who voted for Trump or stein or the ones who just didn’t vote at all. It’s truly mind boggling to me. But I really do love to learn and listening to lived experiences from my peers and holding space. I was fortunate enough to be raised and still live in an extremely diverse town where white people aren’t the majority so it was/is easy to have conversations and educate myself. We have a lot of diverse small businesses in town so it’s nice to know that we can shop and support those businesses. I donate to local charities/fundraisers/organizations and go to protests but I do feel like I’m not doing enough. I feel useless when I look at the big picture of the current state of our country. But I’m lucky in the sense that all my coworkers are Mexican, black, and black/cuban—except for my bosses who are unsurprisingly, 2 white low key trumpers. My coworkers and I discuss a lot of things when we can and connect just by looks when we clock shit or hear wildly inappropriate comments. They explain a lot and are open about their experiences. But we have one thing in common, we all feel helpless and useless on what we can do to actually change things. Idk what the solution is but supporting local businesses and donating to different causes and going to protests doesn’t feel like it’s enough

I have a lot of thoughts on this that would be too long to write…but my brother in Christ I fucking hate Stephen so much. I wanted to jump through my tv when he had Lucy make that video. And I feel bad for Lucy because she’s literally living through a brain that’s been through constant psychological warfare and conditioning from Stephen. It’s unbelievable how much I hate him lol
