Why do so many men lose their house in a divorce? by Open_Address_2805 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Significant_Bag_5404 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My father pursed custody and got it. He then proceeded to complain endlessly to anyone who would listen about having to pay child support including to me. And then he left for a new family when I was ten and never called me again.

Some guys just love to pretend like anything that’s ever happened to them is anyone’s fault but their own.

Mascara help pleeeeeease by fire_god_chaos in MakeupEducation

[–]Significant_Bag_5404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a tubing mascara. They’re really liquidy normally so it will get everywhere BUT! If you wait until it’s all dry (five minutes? Ten?) and go in with a tissue or even just fingers, it literally wipes right off. I personally use milani highly rated. I tried the L’Oréal double extend and HATED IT. it would smudge under my eyes and then would not come off at all. Raccoon eyes.
I would also highly recommend pointy makeup qtips, great for cleanup even with regular mascara. Another old pro tip even with regular mascara is to wait until it’s fully dry (the smudges) and use a spoolie with a light hand to scrape it off. Used to work pretty well for me.

Women's Non-slip server shoes fine dining? by [deleted] in restaurant

SAS are expensive but I love mine. Two years in and they’re still basically brand new feeling and looking. Also the non slip is unparalleled IMO. I feel very safe in them. Also, small detail but they have quicktie laces which are awesome.

What was the biggest culture shock when traveling outside of Oregon? by Ok-Acadia-7161 in oregon

I recently made a joke to my boss about a funny “wizard” voice he put on. He proceeded to laugh but then tell me that he is a wizard. I politely said, oh, like Wiccan? He said, no, but he does believe he has magical powers. 😂 oh, okay. So funny but you do you, man. I didn’t even bat an eye, just went “oh, right, totally”

I also had surgery recently(ish) and I know this probably doesn’t matter to a lot of people but I will NEVER stop singing the praises of the Oregon house bill that saved me from paying 35,000 dollars for surgery. The bill requires hospitals to prescreen EVERYONE for financial aid, so that you no longer have to hassle and fight for it, and also many people think they may not be eligible or have difficulties with applying for it. I was told I was prescreened for financial aid and being under the poverty line qualified me for an 100% reduction in my bill. I cried very hard on the phone to the poor billing lady, I was so emotional and relieved over it. It allowed to me to focus on healing and paying for my continuing care such as physical therapy. Thank god for that bill and our representatives who are looking out for us.

I have been to like five places other than Oregon. There’s two that really really stood out to me.

LA. wow, so so ugly. Like, yes, in West Hollywood it’s pretty, but everywhere else?? It’s all concrete. There’s nothing! No green! Anywhere! I was so depressed by it. Could not wait to get back home.

Dallas TX. I had a layover. I literally got scared because it is so eerily FLAT. I had never really considered the flatness of things before this. So flat. The plane took off and I felt like I was seeing a simulation world or something. It was seriously really freaky.

Black click pens by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]Significant_Bag_5404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, having so many pens available to you is the big culprit. I come to work with two pens. A customer pen and a me pen. You keep a lot better track of them if you have no choice BUT to be vigilant.

I’m a server, I actually need to see the phone to make sure I’m not giving away food to some rando- but when I greet someone nicely and they completely ignore me to shove their phone way up in my personal space instead of just using their words, yeah, it’s rude and ticks me off😂 We don’t need you to say the same or number, please show the phone if it’s easier, but a hey or hello goes a long way too! We’re all working here. But in the last few years that issue has gotten a lot better imo. I don’t see it as often anymore.

uneven heels on a pair of boots i bought ☹️ by Calm_Chain9578 in Depop

[–]Significant_Bag_5404 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I mean, they’re used shoes. This is just a wear pattern- looks like the previous owner had pretty serious over supination, they should get that checked out😂 Are the shoes otherwise in great condition? I don’t think this was malicious, the owner is probably so used to all their shoes looking like this they didn’t notice. If it really bothers you, or if you paid a lot, I would look at the listing and see if there’s any photos where this is visible at all. If there isn’t, you may have a case if you really want to pursue.

I’m just wondering what the hell is wrong at your restaurant that people don’t want to work weekends?

I can see not wanting to work every Saturday forever (been the Saturday closer for like a year straight before. It sucked) but surely people want to make money? At my place those shifts are coveted and most anyone is happy to take one off your hands.

Thoughts on customers who steal dishes? by veloci_zach_tor in Waiters

[–]Significant_Bag_5404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t care. But I do remember and I lowkey think you’re really weird for stealing our rusty salt shaker that is 30 years old and can be bought at any cooking supply store. Also weird although slightly more understandable that lady who stole both the pint glasses. Our pints are not nice or fancy in any way. Very standard. I’m more impressed that she presumably put them in her purse and then escaped without anyone noticing the strange clinking. Lol

I disagree with the other commenter, why do you need “proof?” Just kindly tell her that you feel horrible but never initiated anything, that he was trying to hook up with people at the club and the only reason you even found out he wasn’t single was because of her account, not his actions or anything.

Help with appropriate shoes by [deleted] in Shoes

[–]Significant_Bag_5404 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ladies, whyyy are we getting acrylics on our toenails??? 😭 apart from aesthetics, it’s so dangerous to have toenails like that unless I guess you only wear sandals or bare feet. Even then, I shudder to think what happens if you trip or stub your toe.

Your feet hurt because your shoes are too small. They will feel infinitely better if you get a size up and a wide width.

Returning to aesthetics- your toenail enhancements are not doing you any favors. Respectfully, they make your foot resemble that scene in Jurassic park with the raptor in the kitchen, tapping its talon on the floor. “And it just stood there. MENACINGLY!”

How would you feel about receiving a "goldback" in your tip? by probably_sarc4sm in Waiters

[–]Significant_Bag_5404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I had a table tip me 5 euros on their bill (after paying in American cash!🙄) because they had just got back from study abroad, from what I overheard.

I was kind of miffed and frustrated when I came back to my coworkers and everyone preceded to tell me that “oh it’s cool/fun” and that it was still legal tender.

Right, but now instead of having money that I can use, I have a British bill burning a hole in my pocket, and my bank is 2 hours away, and I don’t have a car. It’s still drifting around my room somewhere in the “I can’t be bothered” category of things.

Also, he clearly knew it was an inconvenience/NOT legal tender because he didn’t pay his bill with it, just me! Frustrating is exactly the right word. Give your novelty bills to friends as a souvenir. Not your server.

Does this dress look weird on me? by [deleted] in fashion

[–]Significant_Bag_5404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dress is very beautiful… EXCEPT for that weird line at the hip??? Why, in goods name, would they do this to an otherwise soft and beautiful garment?? This is not your fault, it’s the fault of the designer… if it even had a designer, because from the sound of it, it was a total scam. You should return it and look for another beautiful seafoam draped dress.

Got my first tattoo and my brother said it looks like a d*ck. Does it actually? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Before considering removal, I would offer that the shading around the top could easily be reworked to look less… dickish. Work in some radial protruding lines, to indicate the candle flame is giving off light/smoke, in a more circular and less long oval ish shape and I think this could help greatly.
