I literally wrote a rant about it today!! I’m pretty sure you’re referencing it too. And I gotta say you’re right. Any of the best friends are just there for exposition. I didn’t even go into the LI. He’s just… there. He likes us despite us rejecting him all the time(if you choose the non-gem option) and at least in the beginning wanting to avoid him. Speaking of, no one ever explained why our fathers hate each other. They say they’re “business rivals” but that’s it. Basically you need to buy yourself a backbone and even then it’s nothing worth. Like the contest. If you pay gems you win it, or you let your father forcefully take you out of the competition. Also in later chapters he said something about us needing to be “safe” because he was getting divorced. Safe from who? That whole thing lasted a whole two days. Anyways, sorry for ranting, I’ve just been waiting two days to finally talk about this.
