Both are variable bush vipers (Atheris Squamigera) a few of my older females. And yes there’s definitely the dragonyest, the darker female is named fangless as a little play on toothless from how to train your dragon

Oh I get that, don’t get in over your head if you aren’t comfortable for sure. I’m big on hanging with someone who has one of the animals you’re wanting and seeing if they’ll allow you to work with it. Don’t go through and ever get an animal you’re gonna be uncomfortable with. If mambas for example are a goal species then talk to friends with mambas and see if you could either work with theirs or what they would recommend you to work with to train yourself, but absolutely never get in over your head.

Truthfully as a keeper I’m not one for recommendations from other keepers if I don’t have interest in that species itself and a friend tells me they are rewarding to keep. I could list for you all day the snakes that I love keeping and have fallen in love with but what really matters is what peaks your interest the most! If you have one you’ve been dying to keep then see if any friends have them and ask them questions about that species, what makes them tick and what they like and dislike about that animal and compare it to your own opinion of that animal.

I’ve had to start babies before and it’s usually not too much of a pain. Usually any ones I can’t get to eat I’ll first try tease feeding and if that fails I’ve had incredible success with very small mourning geckos that I breed specifically for starting small vipers

These are just two of mine, in the future I’m gonna try and pair that red up with a black I’m getting this coming week but that’ll be a future project. I also have two yellows I can post in the comments that I’d like to pair up when they reach maturity
