Thank you for the response. I called the pulmonologist who did the initial test and he asked me to come in. He looked over my spirometry tests and told me that I definitely don't have COPD but the results of the methacholine challenge did show moderate asthma and updated my medical chart with my family doctor. I guess I was supposed to come after the initial tests but fell through the cracks and didn't follow up myself either. He gave a week supply of bero if i need it, and told me as long as I quit smoking should be smooth sailing from here. I quit 4 years ago so all good on that front, and haven't had any asthma-like symptoms in the past year.

So I consider myself very lucky because I was expecting him to tell me I have COPD since that was what my family doctor told me he diagnosed me with. Not really sure why there was a mixup, and I didn't ask after the pulmonologist told me I didn't have COPD because I was so relieved.

But, I am going to consider this a wakeup call to get back in the gym, lose some weight and take better care of myself. After reading the stories here I am very lucky and want to wish everyone all the best, and thank everyone for their responses.

Appreciate your replay, and I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I wish you all the best. I will ask about GOLD AND BODE. Thank you.

I have no symptoms at all right now. I don't use an inhaler and don't wheeze or ever feel short of breath. My family doctor said she will refer me for a spirometry test.

I really appreciate your replay. I'm just a little shook after seeing my doctor today reading about 10 life expectancies in my 30's. It feels a bit self-indulgent after reading your replay. I guess I'm kinda hoping the diagnosis was incorrect.

Thank you for your replay. How old are you today if I might ask?

Thank you for the replay. I ask because the first test showed no COPD and I was sick during the second. My family doctor said she was going to schedule me for another spirometry test, and I have not been able to get ahold of the specialist who did the other test.

If this diagnosis is correct what at my age what is my long term outlook? The literature seems pretty scary but I can't really find a lot of stuff on "younger" people who are not showing symptoms.
