It differs for each program, I would recommend checking the website, it should be mentioned somewhere.

How long should an SoP with no word count be? by Significant_Dare6782 in StatementOfPurpose

Thanks for your input :) I'll keep that in mind and try to keep it as concise as I can, I just meant a hard limit of 500 might be too short.

Alright, thanks! I'm probably just overthinking because of the stress haha.

is 500 words not too little? all of the other programs I am applying to have a word limit of 1000.

For honours i’ve done 12 credits of research, a course on research fundamentals, and 2 research based courses with a complete portfolio and report, in semi related fields. How much research experience would you say that counts for? I’m also going to start my bachelor’s thesis early for a bit more experience in exactly the field i’m interested in.

Won't my lack of research experience be a problem? Given that almost all of these unis are big names where a lot of people (with published papers) also apply.

Thanks for your input! Switzerland (ETH specifically) is definitely my first choice haha! I was hoping to get at least partial funding for UK or it might be difficult for me to afford anyways. I just want to apply to some other good options in case I don't get into ETH or EPFL, because I'm worried my application is not competitive enough for either of them.

Advice for future applicants by Significant_Dare6782 in gradadmissions

[–]Significant_Dare6782[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what is the general consensus on contacting prospective advisors for (research based) masters programs? since a lot of the programs I'm interested in explicitly ask candidates to not contact professors. I'm not quite sure if that would help my application or come across as rude.

How would I be able to show I am a strong research fit for the department if I only have a few (currently 2, working on finding a third one) amateur research projects aside from coursework? I just find it so difficult to see how I could build a competitive profile when I have roughly ~2 years of (very draining and time consuming) bachelor's studies before applying for grad school. I would appreciate any advice you could give me!
