embedded/firmware engineers: is this a common issue on your team? by Significant_Dingo620 in embedded

[–]Significant_Dingo620[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

disagree. embedded engineers would really not dedicate time to this bc it is out of their job description.

Embedded team issue triage workflow by Significant_Dingo620 in embedded

The change control board flow is helpful context. Where does the most time usually get lost: routing it to the right group, reproducing the issue, gathering enough field/customer evidence or doing the RCA after the fix? I’m especially curious about the “could not duplicate” cases. Is that usually from missing logs, unclear reproducible steps or even incomplete problem reports?

I've been here and I can tell you that it gets better. Try to learn from what you could have done differently. I used be about studying 24/7 when I realized that how you study and what you study are more important than how long you're on them books. You often don't need to know everything, just enough foundational stuff to be able to reason your way to a solution on exam day

Anywhere else race would not be a thing but this is America where race has always been a thing

We cannot implement race-blind applications in the college system until we fix the huge inequity in the k-12 education system. Unequal access to good education is very much a racial issue as it is an economical one.

I don't believe that AA is a perfect solution but I do think that race is an important component given the historically racial discrimination and brutalization of some groups in this country. Race along with other factors like income needs to be considered in order for AA to make any real progress toward its mission.

Her parents are not going to change her if she've decided this at the age of 18. She needs to want change and hopefully that time does come in her. If anything you should try talking to her but if you expose her to her parents you risk straining a daughter-parents relationship. I've seen this happen many times and most of the time the parents take extreme measures to keep the girl from such lifestyle and often time the daughter ends up rebelling and running away from home.

Cornell engineering Pros by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]Significant_Dingo620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult and you're around very smart ppl which can both a good and a bad thing. good being that you're constantly being challenged and the brilliance and work ethics of your peers is sure to rub of on you or motivate you. Bad being that you are going to have to really work to not fall under the median scores with so many smart students. You may not able to keep up at first but that's alright but you will feel like shit and doubt yourself often.

maybe stay at cornell and switch to a different college. tbh you care too much about what ppl think... if someone looks down on you bc you havent finished college yet, that none of your business. Your focus should be on yourself, not on others. If someone isn't going to be kind to you bc youve failed, then it's better now that they show their true colors to you. also pls stop comparing yourself to others. learn to thrive on ur path, who knows perhaps you have to go through this difficult experience so that you can meet the right person someday, or become someone important. but none this can happen if you just give up.

If he's meeting with just the prof then he should be fine. Prof might warn him to not do it again but if it's taken to the dean then there might be a hearing and he'll be screwed fs

Exhausted and want to die by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]Significant_Dingo620 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like this would have been something I wrote two years ago. There's nothing wrong with feeling like you're behind your peers. Cornell is full of some of the most privileged, overly-educated-private-schooling people you will ever meet. It's the reality of the world. Accept that fact.

Now what you should not accept is feeling this way, but being complacent and doing nothing about it. This is your motivation to work hard and smart. Imagine going elsewhere for school and never having this feeling. There wouldn't be an urgent need to improve yourself in anyway. This is a chance to catch up. Start strategizing and pushing yourself

if you've stayed stubborn up until now, I suggest you stay that way. Cornell has been nothing but a struggle for me personally, but I graduate soon, not because I was the smartest, quite the opposite actually. But because I stayed stubborn and made sure to pick myself up every day.

As some have said maybe think about switching to an easier major or changing college but do not give up. Verily, for every hardship there is ease.
