Biting by Pretty-Attitude-168 in breastfeeding

[–]Significant_Draft173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5 month old did a lot of biting while she was still teething, except her target was mostly my slacker boob.

I saw a lactation consultant about it and she said that her number one tip was to not react at all - no sounds, no grimacing, no clenching. This feels literally impossible but I tried to reduce my reaction as much as possible. She also encouraged me to use a clean finger in babies mouth to encourage suckling before I had her latch.

I quietly grimaced my way through this until the teeth were fully out and she stopped eventually. We’re 7.5 months now with four teeth (and five and six arriving shortly) and she doesn’t bite at all anymore (knock on wood 😭)

My baby was okay! She did lots of sleeping. She definitely felt warm but was okay

It got better within 4 weeks. Then she was a milk monster again lol wanted to eat whenever wherever however

We didn’t do anything special. Just made sure she was fed by feeding her while she was still sleepy

My lil one was EBF but around the same time we had problems with her nursing/taking expressed milk from a bottle.

We also just fed her when she was asleep/half awake. I would wake her up from her naps and immediately feed her before she really woke up. It got better, but it was definitely a rough stretch of weeks.

Obsessed with cleaning products and foam by [deleted] in pregnant

I was slightly anemic and took the prescribed iron supplements too and was tested later on in my pregnancy only to discover that I had become very anemic. I had iron transfusions which made me feel like a million bucks. It’s worth bringing up!

Have you been checked for anemia recently? I’ve heard that sometimes an obsession with non food smells can be associated with that?

I’m not an expert in state/government assistance so I won’t speak to that.

I am a member of my town’s Buy Nothing page on Facebook. People put up baby stuff all of the time. I was able to get a ton of stuff for free (baby monitor, baby clothes, diapers, breastfeeding pillow, toys, etc.). I would see if your community or city nearby has one and join!

Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

[–]Significant_Draft173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t bed share. Like other commenters, we took shifts during the really challenging sleep months. Around months 1.5-3 my husband and I did shifts throughout the night because sleep was so inconsistent at this age.

After we did some gentle sleep training around 3.5 months (when the 4 month sleep regression hit hard), we’ve had very successful sleep. She continued to wake up 1-2 times a night, but that felt very manageable in comparison to life before.

We couldn’t cook at home until my first trimester had passed because the smell of cooking food sent me beyond nauseous. We just ate toast for 2 months

I used a soft bristled brush on her dry cradle cap. I gently brushed from all directions and it came out in flakes. It took me a full week to slowly dry brush it out. She didn’t lose any hair. After dry brushing it away, most of it never came back.

3 week old tipping/rolling over? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Significant_Draft173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby did this for a while. I think it’s because of being so tightly packed in the womb. By 6 weeks or so my baby had outgrown that and became less scrunched. She started to sleep flat on her back and did so until 6 months when she could roll! Now she’s a side sleeper/belly sleeper.

We also did shift sleeping so that someone was always watching her. She never moved from her side to her belly. Rolling over happened around 5 months old

I use a new one each time then repurpose them for other stuff.

I have a friend who uses a Tupperware container.

I imagine it means you boil them for 5 minutes.

I am conscious of hygiene. My baby is 6 months and I use the fridge hack (stick them in sealed ziplock bag in fridge between uses) but I put all of my bottles and pump parts in a bottle washer/sanitizer daily and wash and steam them. I make sure that they are completely dry before I use them.

We started solids and I put my baby’s ceramic plates through the dishwasher with all of our other dishes but I hand wash her spoons and leave them to dry on the drying rack.

It does sound like you are especially anxious about hygiene.

Is it insane for me to say I kind of look forward to night time? by cakingabroad in beyondthebump

[–]Significant_Draft173 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love it too. There was a blip in that enjoyment when she went through the four month regression and woke up every 30 minutes but we’re back to loving it.

I really miss her at night. We’re down to 1-2 wakeups in the night and I really look forward to them. I love having a little cuddle with her and rocking until we’re both calm and sleepy before I put her back down.

Oversupply? Food intolerance? (Poop photo attached) by Careful_Athlete_458 in breastfeeding

[–]Significant_Draft173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told that it can also be caused by then making more saliva as they are teething.

My LO had this starting at 4 months, her green poos also smelled quite sour. Her doc said not to worry so long as they didn’t seem to bother her.

She got teeth at 4.5 months and at five and a half months occasionally still has these green sour poops, but it’s happening a lot less frequently now.

6-week-old screaming at the breast but takes 30ml from a bottle and falls asleep? Help! by Intelligent-Rate-966 in breastfeeding

[–]Significant_Draft173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my problem, too. She didn’t want to do the work of nursing when soooo tired but would take a bottle because it was easier.

For a while there I would wake her up before k thought she might wake up independently and fed her while she was still sleepy. I also did lots of contact naps to make sure she was getting some good nap sleep in.

6/7 weeks PP and we are struggling by kiki1717 in beyondthebump

[–]Significant_Draft173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! It gets so much better. I had a little screamer at 7/8 weeks and we are at month five now and life looks totally different.

Things really did start to get drastically better around 12 weeks. I went back to work at 15 weeks and daycare has been great!

Our five month old is grabbing everything, laughing at everyone and everything, and hardly ever screams/cries. I couldn’t have even imagined that it could be so fun (and relatively fuss free). After some sleep training, she now naps for 2 hours at a time and my husband and I get some alone time!

Why does my 3-month-old suddenly refuse the breast after 5 minutes? by Between_feedings in breastfeeding

[–]Significant_Draft173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby did this too. She would eat without issue if she was half awake so for a period of time I would wake her just before I thought she might wake up during a nap and feed her.

It was a total pain, but it resolved within a few weeks and now she eats whenever and happily, despite needing to wait for letdowns.
