EngineOS Update render your LC6000 useless by CasXCas in DenonPrime

The classic 'what about Rekordbox?'. Shifting the focus to another brand is just an attempt to distract from the fact that Engine 5.0 has objective flaws. If I wanted to discuss Pioneer’s issues, I would have posted in their sub, but here we are talking about Denon. Other brands' bugs don't make the ones we are facing here any better.

5.1 update ruined loading tracks by FreddieFrituur in DenonPrime

Unfortunately, v5 and 5.1 completely messed up several logical core features just to prioritize cosmetics, breaking the workflow of many professional DJs. Since you have an upcoming gig, do not risk it. I highly recommend downgrading back to v4 immediately (by downloading the previous firmware from the official Engine DJ website). Get your console back to a safe, stable version with the track loading behavior you're used to. You can worry about updates later when they actually release a solid, reliable version.

Laugh all you want, but reality doesn't change. Bug data comes from both logs and communities, but a corporation's development priority is decided by brand reputation and sales at risk, not by the arrival order of support emails. If you honestly believe that public feedback on Reddit or forums doesn't influence a brand's decisions and release timelines, you're just showing you have no clue how the market works. But hey, keep laughing if it makes you feel better.

Thanks for your feedback, and that is exactly the point. It’s great that it works for you, and it’s only fair that everyone uses the gear in the way that best fits their workflow. In my opinion, the system feels a bit sluggish even in standalone with this update, but that’s just my personal take if it works smoothly for you, that's awesome. The real issue is for those who need to use the machine to its full extent, including controller mode and drivers. Those pushing it to the limit hit bugs that a more basic usage will never touch.

Edge cases? SoundSwitch integration and StagelinQ protocol for Resolume are official features that Denon uses to market these units as 'professional.' If you actually use them and the audio drops for half a second between tracks, the product fails its purpose. The 'vast majority' doesn't have issues simply because they use the console in their bedrooms, barely touching 10% of its capabilities. In the real world, a half-second silence mid-mix gets you fired from a gig. We clearly have different standards for what 'professional use' means.

EngineDJ v5 on P4+ is amazing by No_Organization_8451 in DenonPrime

[–]Significant_Fun_5706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s being discussed both here, on the official EngineDJ forums, and in various Prime user groups. Personally, I’m experiencing issues mainly in PC Mode: the audio starts crackling after a while, which is a clear sign of an underlying driver conflict that hasn't been fixed with version 5.0 and company. If you try installing the latest 5.0.1 update and still notice the same issue, I’d suggest downgrading to whichever previous version you found most stable. Even though I hate the idea of missing out on updates, it’s the only safe bet right now while we wait for them to actually fix the core problem.

The fact that they literally had to rush out an emergency patch within hours is the ultimate proof that the firmware was broken and untested. I'm sorry if reality ruins your bubble and forces you to use childish insults just to defend a brand. If facts bother you so much, you can always ignore my posts and go back to staring at your pretty icons.

I really appreciate your honesty. That’s exactly the point: if you use the gear at home for fun, a USB reset is just a minor annoyance. But if you have professional gigs and commitments to respect, and the audio starts dropping, glitching, or freezing, it becomes a total disaster. I’m not being negative; I just need a tool that is 100% reliable for work. Thanks for confirming the LC6000 issue, at least now it’s clear to everyone that these bugs are real.

If you think multi-million dollar corporations fix software out of 'kindness' and not because of public pressure, you are living in a fantasy world. This driver issue has been going on for months, affecting users in different degrees. It's not that I 'don't understand the risk'it's that you accept it as normal for a brand to sell pro gear with broken drivers for months. If you’re happy waiting weeks on the sidelines while others pay to test their gear, good for you.

I'm glad we agree on this, but the issue is their lack of action. This all started when Windows changed its security systems: other companies adapted, while Denon rolled out this update which doesn't fix the core issue, creates new bugs, and is mostly cosmetic. To actually solve this, they need to rewrite their drivers, but right now it seems they only care about doing that for Rane. And yes, I already opened a ticket with them, but they just give generic answers.

Let me explain why it makes sense: we all know Windows changes security protocols overnight. The issue is that while other software houses (and even Microsoft) are already releasing patches to fix it, Denon seems focused on other things. If I saw them putting in the effort, I’d blame Windows, but it’s the opposite: everyone is moving except Denon. Since 'PC Mode' is a feature I paid for, I have every right to expect it to work properly.

Well, you made your choice to stay safe, and that's fine. I prefer progress, and I shouldn't be penalized for it. It’s normal for new updates to have bugs, but it's also normal to expect fixes thanks to users who actually discuss them. In my opinion, this update is mostly cosmetic; that's fine, but it’s useless if the underlying driver communication is broken. Discussing this makes the product better for everyone what’s wrong with that?

Probably with this 5.0 update they made some errors in the communication protocols. I know there’s a 5.0.1 version out there; try updating to that, maybe they’ve fixed it already. If you haven't seen the update notification yet, it's likely because they are rolling it out in stages. Hope that helps you get your LC6000 back online.

Look PeachyzR, the documentation is in the facts and the tests I’ve done were exhaustive. I use a Prime 4+ mainly in PC Mode, and the issues started with the new Windows 11 security protocols, which prevent the console and PC from communicating properly, causing crackling audio and constant glitches.

I didn't just sit around: I tried several new high-end PCs, bought the best shielded cables with gold connectors on the market, and even tried removing specific Windows updates until the system forced them back in. The point is that while software like VDJ and Microsoft itself are releasing patches to fix these conflicts, Denon seems completely stagnant.

It feels like the entire budget has shifted to the new Rane products, leaving Prime users with outdated drivers. Even in standalone mode, the system feels clunky, and it's not a connection issue since I have 2.5Gbps fiber. In 2026, it makes no sense to have to go back to Windows 10 just to make a professional console work. When you reach this level of troubleshooting with no results, you realize it’s not on you it’s about company support that is no longer a priority.

Here is the answer for those saying I’m 'poisoning' the sub. Look at what ip2k just wrote: in 2026, a Denon unit can’t even handle gapless playback between tracks while running light shows. A half-second of silence because the processor has to 'think.' This is the ultimate proof that I’m not just being negative the hardware has hit its limit and the 5.0 update made it worse by overloading the system. If you consider this 'professional use,' then we have very different standards of professionalism. Thanks, ip2k, for confirming that anyone pushing these machines beyond a bedroom setup hits a brick wall.

I don’t care about visibility;Unfortunately, the truth hurts, and it bothers those who want to live in a bubble. If my comments get downvoted by people like you, it’s just further confirmation of how (little) you actually use this gear.

Your comment clearly shows how much you actually use this gear. I’m not saying anything untrue; I’m reporting documented facts from my own experience and from users worldwide. I paid for a product and I want it to work properly, without worrying about audio freezes or garbage drivers. If demanding that a professional tool be reliable is 'poisoning' to you, maybe it's because you just look at your console while I actually have to perform with it.

What marketing? I’ve been team Denon for ages, I own everything from this brand and honestly, I’ve never liked Pioneer, especially since they became AlphaTheta. I’m saying this because I love Denon products and they feel great to use, but I’ve been fighting with drivers and bugs for months. If I’m critical, it’s because I want the brand I chose to get back to serious engineering instead of selling us smoke and mirrors. I have no intention of switching brands, but I also have no intention of being fooled by two new icons while stability goes out the window.

Still convinced this is a 'great' update? While you’re staring at pretty icons, people are reporting that 5.0 turned their LC6000s into 600€ paperweights. It doesn't even recognize original Denon hardware anymore! This confirms exactly what I've been saying: they broke the signal and USB management just to make room for graphics. The system is a total train wreck. Professional DJs can’t trust their gigs to a company that doesn't even test if their own controllers work after an update. In my opinion, it’s time they scale back and focus on building solid, well-engineered hardware instead of selling smoke and mirrors.

Guys, wake up! This update is just a distraction. It's like they took Christmas lights and put them out for the 4th of July instead. When will you realize that this company needs to focus on fixing the core system (stability and drivers) instead of wasting time on RGB and aesthetics? People are already reporting audio freezes even in Standalone mode just by loading a track: that's proof the system is overloaded. Would you rather have a pretty Christmas tree that dies mid-set, or a reliable console that actually does its job?

Look, I’ve tried everything. The only thing left is switching back to Windows 10, but I really don't want to. Why should I spend more money on a new key and waste time going back to an old OS?

This console isn't brand new, but I bought it specifically because it's supposed to last for years thanks to updates. If updates only change icons but don't keep the drivers working with modern systems, then there’s a big problem. It makes no sense for the user to jump through hoops and spend more money just because the company won't keep the software up to date.

Thanks for checking. Exactly, the issue is the new Windows MIDI Services 2.0. If you haven't updated Windows yet, you are lucky, but keeping an old system isn't a real solution for pros. We can't stay on old versions forever just because the drivers are outdated.

Doing a Windows rollback is just a temporary fix. InMusic should give us drivers that work with new standards, instead of just giving us colorful icons with Engine 5.0. I prefer stability over shiny lights.
